View the latest post Battery Charge Life

Hi

My AC shore power line was not connected well and my Carver 404 batteries were dead in the morning. Charged them back up and no problems. I thought that only going one night (maybe 18 hours) with no charge didn't seem like that long for the batteries to beable to hold a charge. I don't think there was much pulling on the batteries (maybe fridge, etc) over night that would have drained them.

Battery configuration is 3 batteries - 2 shared for engines and house, the other for generator.

How long will your batteries hold a charge, if there are no demands on them?

Thanks
Rich

View the latest post Velvet Drive chatter in neutral

Hello, just di a sea trial on a 1998 355 today. Motors ran great, greats shift quickly and smoothly. The starboard trans has some chatter only in neutral, port is quiet. Engines and gears only have about 230 hours.
Does anyone have any experience with these Borg Warner gears?

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Tom

View the latest post Carver 530 Voyager

We are in the process of selling our home and plan on buying a boat to live on. We are looking at the 530 voyager. We like the layout and the fact of getting off/on the boat without climbing ladders. The voyager normally comes with either Volvo or Cummins engines. Doe anyone have any feedback on their experiences with these engines? I would prefer Cummins but most of the voyagers on the market have Volvo engines. Like anything else, if you take care of your equipment with preventative measures you'll have a lot less problems with them.

Thanks for any input.

Capt Bob

View the latest post 1998 355AC

Hello all, I am new to the forum, so I would appreciate any help offered.
The wife and I are in the process of purchasing a 1998 355 pending survey. This boat has the merc 7.4's with only 235 hours.
We are moving from a series of express cruisers. We greatly enjoyed our Carver 2757 even with the 3.7 lx motors and have just sold our 05 crownline 29cr with 350 mags. I will miss the speed and handling of the express, but we will not miss crawling out of the aft cabin in the morning and the cramped quarters when the grandkids are along for the weekend.

OK, enough rambling, I was just wondering If those with the same or similar boats can give me some things to look for. as far as potential issues, and ideas to avoid them, and ideas to make the boat function and / or perform a bit better.

I believe this is a solid well build boat in good shape, but it is 18 years old, so I would appreciate any input from those of you that have had experience with this boat.

Thanks
Tom :-)

I am looking at a 2000 Mariner 350 and I would like to have some feedback on the performance of this boat in choppy waters and how easy or difficult it is to handle in windy conditions.
Thanks in advance.

Just curious if anyone has purchased one of these flashlights. If so, does it live up to the hype or is it a waste of money.

View the latest post 45 voyager bridge drains

Trying to find the location and repair of a leak on the port side bridge drain. I discovered that when fabricated the 90 degree elbow was pointed the wrong direction initially. But now I get water exciting the vents when I flush the drains. Suggestions?
