View the latest post Installing a Standpipe Davit on Carver 445

I will be installing an Aluminum standpipe davit on the hardtop of the aft deck on my Carver 445 shortly. I intend to lift a West Marine RIB ( 130 lbs ) along with a Mercury 6 hp ( 60 lbs ). I plan to use a 12v winch with 2000 pulling/600 lbs lifting capability. Any advice/wisdom would be gratefully received.

View the latest post Attachment(s) Hurry up Summer!

I Keep looking at last year pics.... We have already been out twice this year, (had one person swim... not really smart) burned some fuel, Bumped the bottom (soft mud) but we are waiting for more times like this. This was my dockmates birthday party last year. End of year, last raft up of the season.

Looks what happens when you find a nice place to stay. A bunch of Sea Rays all gather around. But look where their people go. (alright, 3 SeaRays, one Formula, and 2 something else.)

Hey all, if anybody is considering graphics for your boat. I used SignSpecialist.Com, work was fast and impressive product. Design your own and self installed without incident. Prices are reasonable. Photos attached.

View the latest post Raymarine C80 and AutoPilot

I have a Raymarine C80 MFD, SmartPilot SPX course computer, and an ST70 AutoPilot Controller.

Problem:
After I create a route with the MFD and start to follow that route I want the Autopilot to join the party. According to the manual for the Autopilot we set the autopilot on "Auto" and the MFD following a route. When this is all happening the next waypoint becomes visible on the autopilot screen. When I press "Track" on the autopilot it beeps (very annoyingly) and displays the error "No navigation data". :banghead: It seems they are talking to each other as the waypoint shows up on the autopilot.

I foresee some trips this season with some relatively long straight runs so this would be a good thing to have working.

As always thanks in advance for your thoughts and opinions.
Fraser

View the latest post Dual helm question

On our 79 Carver 3326, we have dual stations, flybridge and salon controls, with twin 270 Crusaders. When we purchased the boat last year, I had intermittent issues with the ignition system not wanting to work both on startup and shut down. There is one master keyswitch at the lower helm which when turned on, powers two solenoids in the engine bay. These solenoids then distribute power to the helms and all other areas. At both the upper and lower helm, there is a three position toggle switch (one for each engine, upper and lower) which starts the engine and then kills the engine at shut down. I traced the starting/kill issue to a small plastic box which is located under the cover of the lower helm, accessed from the galley side of the helm. This box contains two electromagnetic "relays". These relays, when energized, send power to the engines allowing them to start/run. Upon shutdown, the magnet pulls the power from the engine circuit and shuts down the engine. I assume these relays are original and are now 37 years old and getting weak. I would like to replace these old electromagnetic relays with new automotive type relays but am confused on how this should be done, what relays to use, and the proper wiring for them. If anyone has dealt with this type system before and can lend a helping hand it would be greatly appreciated. We are about 5 weeks from putting the boat back in for the season and I would love to put this issue behind us. Thanks in advance.

View the latest post Crusader 350 / 270 hp Temperature

Hi Folks,

What is the operating temperature range for a 350 Crusader / 270 hp with fresh water cooling? This is a new boat to me so I am not sure what is normal and what is not. I did a quick search under "temperature" but did not see the question previously asked.

Thanks for letting me tap into the wealth of knowledge here.

View the latest post Princess Oven Element Not Working on 3 Burner Electric Stove

Question with regards to a Princess Oven. I have a 1987 32' Carver Aft Cabin, with original Princess 3 burner / electric stove oven. I live aboard her during the winter and when cooking noticed the oven element stopped working. My broiler element works fine and hear a click when I turn the oven setting from 450 to 500. I ordered a replacement oven heater element, connected and still the oven does not heat in the 200 - 450 settings. Any ideas. Is there a switch that engages when you close the oven door?? Looking for any trouble shooting ideas. Thanks!

View the latest post 1999 Carver 356 new owner

Hello everyone,
We took possession of the 356 last Saturday. Still poring through manuals and figuring out the systems. The previous owner kept wonderful records and was the first owner.

We thinking of naming the boat Vader. Since we have been sailors for over 20 years our sailing friends think we have gone to the Dark Side.
My wife is worried the name will offend pure motor boaters, but I tell her it is a conversion starter.
What does the forum think?

Look forward to collaborating with everyone.

Ted
Huntsville, AL
Vader currently at Lake Pickwick state park.
