View the latest post Attachment(s) Volvo Penta TAMD 74P EDC Long Delay in Engaging

Hi Carver owners,

I have a 2002 466MY with twin Volvo TAMD 74P-As - although the blocks say TAMD75P - can't work that one out since a serialisation search confirms they are 74P-As. Anyway, these have an EDC system installed.

I had a mechanic fix a problem with the starboard forward not engaging. Dammit he showed me how he fixed this but I cannot recall exactly what he did. My problem now though is that the port forward thrust is taking 30 seconds or so before it engages.

Would anyone have a clue on how I can fix this? Port astern and the starboard ahead and astern thrusts have the normal one second delay before engaging the props.

Unfortunately where the vessel is now there are no VP certified mechanics. So any help or a point in the right direction would be well received.

Raymond

View the latest post Defogger on Carver 560

Does anyone know specifically
where the defogger heating element is located on the 560? My defogger blows only ambient air. Maybe there is a DC breaker somewhere that I am not seeing. Mine is a 2007 but it is likely the same for all years. Would appreciate any help.

View the latest post Attachment(s) Suggested Oil for 1997 Crusader 454 XLi's

I am sure that their have been past discussion on this topic but here go's anyway.
I am looking for a good marine grade oil for my boat's power plant's, the owners manual advises SAE 40 but I like my synthetics and run Amsoil in my Ford 7.3 L. After lengthy reading I am not sure what is best as synthetics in an older motor can have blow-by dependent on wear, and base oils lack the superior lubricating qualities offered by synthetics. Do marine oils contain added rust inhibitors over conventional automotive oils? I question the previous owners maintenance as they could not tell me what oil they used in these motors, and two year old marine batteries had no electrolytes. I am a little intense on the service of my equipment and a hands on type that most likely stayed with me since the Marines. Any guidance is appreciated, looking for a good reasonably priced oil options for these motors. Thanks All

View the latest post Lower helm blower switch works, upper helm switch doesn't. Ideas?

I just bought a 1994 Carver 390 CPMY (gas) and love it. I'm learning how to do my own work. The lower helm station blower switch works fine, but the upper helm blower switch does not. The green indicator light does come on at the upper helm switch when the lower is used to turn the blower on.

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot/fix? Thanks in advance!

View the latest post Bomar port light replacement

I would like to replace my port plight on a 406. Has anyone done this? I removed the screws but the port light appears to be glued or embedded, can the light be pried out. I assume that the outer part attached to the hull is glued. Any help?

View the latest post Engine Pulleys

Hello, I have the Volvo D6 Diesels. I have been told that I should replace the plastic pulleys that came factory because they are wearing and the replacements are metal not plastic. Just thought I would see if anybody has changed theirs out and the difficulty of the job.
Thanks
