Can anyone tell us what electrical fixture is in the cabinet above the fridge in a 1997 Mariner 350? Ours has 2 insulated 12v wires with open ends coming from the ceiling into the cabinet with nothing connected. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
Jim and Judi

View the latest post 4207 Safe-T- Alert alarm

Hi all. During a storm this past summer we had a lot of lightening in the area. We didn't take a hit. Far from it. Maybe a coincidence? But around then my fume alarm sounds when my Safe-T-Alert for the High Bilge Water, Fire, and Fume alarm is tested or turned in the on position. What could possible happening? The sensor(s) are bad? how many are in the engine room? Where?
Any help would sure be appreciated.
Thanks!

Proud new owner of a 1987 2827 Voyager, as of August. Upgraded to sedan cruiser from a Sea Ray 260 Sundancer. Long time boater but new to twin engines. Also new to Carvers so I am hoping for the best. Doing some minor upgrades over winter, ready for a great 2016 boating season.
Inland boater on rivers and lakes.

The attached photos are of what appears to be a dimmer switch in the master state room of my 1997 Carver 405. It does not work and I don't know what it's for. Can anybody tell me what it does?

:usa:

I recently purchased a used 1998 Carver 405 from a Hunter 336 Sailboat, as it will be a liveaboard vessel, and within the next year, it will get us started on the travel of the Great Loop, as I retired early with medical disability. I have spent 30 years in my career in information technology, from Windows 2.1 to Windows 7 and Windows 2012 Servers. I worked as a contractor with NASA Kennedy Space Center, and started with McDonnell Douglas, then in 1999, the company merged with The Boeing Company, and the work was to support the engineers on Space Station and NASA Payloads, which I can say I supported Hubble Telescope just to think back.

I worked the last 13 years with a small company called a.i. Solutions, Inc. out of Lanham MD. I was working with Windows Servers and IT Security as dual role, but managed the last 9 years just on IT Security for the NASA/Federal Government requirements to assess all of the launch systems, the telemetry systems, the video/audio systems that are used in the days of launching an unmanned rocket. Here, I was able to be part of the launch team that deployed many earth and planetary missions, including all three Mars Rovers, and the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, as well as our recent discoveries from Pluto, Jupiter, Saturn, and Venus and Mercury planets. I had a tough job, but watching from the launch sites the successful missions that I was part of, it probably something no other could ever imagine or dream of. I was involved with SpaceX as I ended my career, and Blue Origins are now ramping up a reusable rocket from Cape Canaveral soon.

I look forward to being a yacht motorboat and traveling this beautiful planet.

View the latest post 1996 Carver 355 ???

We are in final stages of negotiations on a 1996 Carver 355. As we have walked the decks a bit, I noticed that the flybridge area has a bit of "bounce" to it. I saw or felt none on the aft sundeck or the lower main salon level. HAs anyone ever experienced this? I am 230 LBS and I "jumped" on the deck and it shook a bit. Could this be delamination or am I just paranoid? ANY info would be great!

Tony
