View the latest post Oldie but goody!

Hello fellow Carver owners,
My wife and I have been boating on Lake St. Clair from Michigan since the mid 80's and even back then Carvers always caught our eyes as beautiful boats.
Our 1979 25 foot Santa Cruz found us about Eight years ago. It was in great shape, but needed a little TLC. Love the Boat and it fits into our schedule and budget. We are now in the process of reworking and updating systems to make it a little more comfortable for over nights.
Look forward to picking your brains and experience and meeting up on the Great Lakes !

View the latest post Carver 3207 Winterizing?

Newbie Needs Help!
Purchased a 3207 and now to winterize it. Live in an area with no mobile service center that can do the task. There is an RV center but felt uneasy when they asked me "What does WInterizing a boat entail".

I did download Winterizing list form BoatUS but woud really would like to know what has to get done and what can wait. The area I live in does snow but doesn't get below 19 degrees often but this year is suppose be colder so best to be safe than sorry.

Thank you,

Connie Acegal

View the latest post Carver 390 - Which switch controls the exterior lights on the sundeck?

Hi All!

I'm still getting to know my '94 Carver 390 CPMY. Great boat, but I've got a few little electrical nigglies. The aft sundeck has a couple of lights in it that don't come on. In the main salon next to the door leading aft, there are two light switches. One turns on salon lights, and the other just a little light on the stairs leading down to the aft stateroom. Does that also turn on the lights out back on the sundeck? I tried putting a voltmeter on the circuit, but got no power. Could the switch that controls these lights be elsewhere?

Hope you can help!

View the latest post Coolant Tank exterior corrosion Cummins 5.9

Hello, i have 2001 Cummins 5.9 Deisel. The coolant tanks have corrosion on the bottom of the sides. I cannot determine the exstent of the corrosion on the undeside without remiving the tank. My insticts tell me the corrosion is being caused by disimmiliar metals touching on the bootom where the tank mounts.

Does anyone else have this corrosion and or removed their coolant tanks to repaint? Did the corrosion cover the bottom of tank?

View the latest post Happy Carver Cruiser

Hi all

We have owned our 2005 56 Voyager for four seasons now. Slept and cruised on her over 240 nights. We mostly cruise
The Straight of Georgia and a bit north. Upgrades:
Espar Hydronic 30 heater ( a must to cruise in NW)
Seawater Recovery water maker
Mastervolt Mass Combi 12/4000 inverter/charger
1200 amp hour battery bank
PC based navigation 15" Touch Screen on bridge and
pasive 23" lower helm monitor. Running Nobeltec TimeZero navigation.
New stereo in main cabin and command bridge
40" LED TV

looking to buy 400' of chain with 88lb Rocna anchor

Great boat, few problems apart from regular wear and tear ( vacuflush, exhaust, exhaust elbow on generator, thermostat on fridge freezer, contacts on cablemaster, holding tank pump etc .... )
Leaky portlights a big bother though....
Glad to join forum, happy to answer any questions.

View the latest post 1997 Carver 405 Gas Engines

I have a question on the 405's gas engines that I am having surveyed and sea trialed tomorrow. The boat has Crusader 454's in it but I don't know the model # to get maintenance or manual info on the specs of the engines. I have been told that they are 454 XL's, but I am not sure as anything I have read refers to the XL's as having carbs. These engines are fuel injected and appear very clean. Could they be 454 XLi's? While mechanically inclined, I am not sure of the difference between the XL or Xli, and have no idea what the MP stands for. Looking for guidance on these engines for the novice and anyplace to get more factual info on them. Thanks in advance.

View the latest post What size boat stands do I need?

So a not so local yard has an over abundance of stands.

Power boat and sailboat stands available, some are Brownell and some are Hostar. Different sizes to choose from, they are rusty but solid. $50 for sailboat stands and $35 for powerboat stands. Two large SP stands 62" to base of screw jack, three SP stands 48",five stands 21" and 4 stands are 13" .

What size an how many would I need for my 1989 2757 Montego?
