View the latest post Oil Pressure Sensor

I have a intermittent jumpy oil pressure gauge on my port side. I have checked the connection at the back on the gauge and every thing is tight. I would like to know where the other end is connected

2001 350 Mariner with 350 MAG MPI.

Thanks

View the latest post Volvo TAMD 75P Transmission engages by itself

I have a 2003 466 Carver with Volvo Pena engines and transmissions. While idling the starboard engine will engage. So far the boat has been secured at the dock when this occurs except once while waiting for the fuel dock she started going in circles until i shut the engine off. When it occurs the shifter will move into forward and reverse but the boat only has forward motion until is shut the engine off. I am not sure if this is an engine or transmission issue.

Has anyone had this issue and how to resolve it. I have had two Volvo certified dealers working on it for three months and the season is almost over. Trying to have one month on the water where I control the boat.... Any one with helpful tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

View the latest post Oil dipstick reading

Hi all. I have twin 454 Crusaders in a 1986 4207. I bought the boat about 3 months ago. The oil in both mains looks practically new. But how can you tell if they need oil with the mains slanted like they are? With the right amount of oil at an oil change, the dip stich would show way higher than the marks on the stick. Correct? Help!!

View the latest post 3607 Perdido Key FL New Member

Glad to have found a forum dedicated to Carver owners! We have a 1982 Carver 3607 that we purchased 2.5 years ago while living in Texas. The vessel was slipped at Flowing Wells Marina on Lake Texoma and has since moved with us to Perdido Key, FL (near Pensacola).

The boat is mostly used for day cruises with a few overnight trips for special events, mostly Mardi Gras to date.

Current projects that I'm working on:
New refrigerator - the original Norcold unit burned the compressor and has been removed.
Researching fresh water flushing system for the raw water cooled Crusaders, more of an issue now that she's in salt water. So far I've found the "Superflush" system or the Groco fresh water flush adapter.
Upgrading battery charger from the original Pro-mariner ferroresonant charger to a new Pro-mariner ProNauticP style.

The very few items that I've upgraded since purchasing:

Converted distributors from points to electronic - major improvement!
Converted Onan generator spark plugs and cables to the RV version.
Changed most of the interior lighting to LED.
Upgraded stereo, added an amplifier and installed exterior speakers.
Upgraded marine VHF and hailer.

Previous owner upgraded the interior styling from the original 1980's color pattern.

Otherwise most items appear to be original and still functional. Looking forward to seeing what others have done with their boats. The best time of the year for boating is just getting started down here.

View the latest post 2757 Rear Deck Bench Seat

Well, the Montego I recently acquired is near mint condition below decks because it was used specifically for fishing Lake Superior, so I have some hefty down rigger plates mounted on the gunwales. But the rear deck bench seat and seat back have long been discarded.

Would someone be willing to take some photos of what I am having to recreate? Maybe a photo of the underside with some rough measurement? I contacted Bryan at Marquis and of course they no longer have any info on that part including drawings even though they manufactured it. The gunwale part of the chrome bracket is there but I have no idea what the other part that must be on the seat frame is supposed to look like either (bracket/hinge?)and it looks as the port end is supported by the fiberglass ledge?

I know a simple solution would be just to by some nice deck chairs but my 6 year old and wife would really like to have the couch/bench.

Anyone know of a frame or entire seat in a derelict boat anywhere?

Thanks!

Jeff

Can anyone give me an idea of what the original price would have been back when new, for a typical 1988-1990 38 ft 3807 aft cabin?

Thanks,
Thom

View the latest post Synchronizers

I have an auto-synchronizer. The port engine is showing "-----" and the starboard engine is reading accurate RPM's. I recently had new electronic ignitions installed by service department (first mistake) and now RPM readings on tachometer for port side are all over the place (mostly reading high) and sync not working (again reading zero "----" on port side digital read-out. Any ideas?
