View the latest post Lake of the Woods

Well, we just packed up our "new" boat a Carver Mariner. Trusting that the marina will winterize it for us properly. Already looking forward to next season, but wondering if there are any other Carver boat owners on Lake of the Woods???? Would like to chat etc.

View the latest post Need Electronic Shift Switch - 1977 Carver

Hello,

I have a 1977 Carver Camper 2276. The Electronic Shifter Switch is bad. I am hoping to find a good deal on this, as money is super tight right now but I really want to be able to get out on the boat more soon. There is a guy here in town that has rebuilt ones, but he wants $220. Way more than I can afford at the moment. Please help!!

It has the OMC drive.

View the latest post Engine starter won't engage

I have a '94 Carver 300 AFT Cabin with 350 Mercursier engines. Just out of no where, when I engage the starter ignition switches, nothing happens. Now I haven't used this boat much this season. But have only ran it about 3 times all season. But each time it has fired right up. I have tried nudging the transmission levers while trying to start just to be sure it wasn't the neutral safety switches. But that didn't do anything. Out of necessity, I did heavily wash/hose down the helm one day. Shortly there after I started having this problem. I thought that I may have shorted the ignition switches some way so I have replaced those....No Change. Any suggestions?????

View the latest post ? regel coat or paint?

I am an owner of a 82" 3007 aft cabin. The years of neglect have been noticeable. The cracks are pumping up my OCD to the point of overload. I am wondering if regel coat is best,or paint. COST is not the issue. 3 month owner.

View the latest post Attachment(s) 2000 Carver 406 Aft Cabin Motor Yacht for sale

I'm selling my 2000 Carver 406 Aft Cabin Motor Yacht. I'm asking $139,900.00. She's in pretty good shape for being 15 years old. Only 1,000 hours on her 370 hp Cummings diesels. The boat is in Connecticut. I will be posting more pictures soon.

View the latest post Stinky Water

My new to me 3007 Aft Cabin carries 93 gallons of water in her tanks plus another 12 when full in the water heater. I noticed upon filling the tanks that after a couple of days the water started to smell. Taste was OK but the smell left a lot to be desired.

I do not know when the water system was last sanitized. I was kind of hoping that I could hold off until next season. On Wednesday I decided to do it now. I could not wait. I bought 4 gallons of chlorine bleach. I poured the bleach into the tanks. I waited for the tanks to level out then I slowly filled them. Once they were full and water was coming out of the vent lines I ran about 13 gallons of water through the water heater and then flushed all lines until I could smell the chlorine.

I work Friday so the chlorine will set in the tanks and lines until Saturday afternoon sometime when I will be back at the boat. I will flush all the bleach/water from the system and then refill. I hope this takes care of the stinky water for the near future.

BTW, of all the boats I have owned throughout the years this is the first time I have had a freshwater system "problem".

View the latest post Picked up a Montego for my wife last weekend!

Well, I was eyeing another sail boat when my wife saw the 2757 and I was done for.

It's a 1989 and in pretty good shape with good maintenance history and 532 hours on the meter.

Our season here on Lake Superior is quickly coming to a close, so I am not sure if we'll get it wet yet this season, the leaves are already well upon their way to fall and I still have two other boats being utilized. This will give me a chance to learn things about the vessel. Like the unlabeled black toggle switch located near the galley sink that doesn't seem to do anything?!?!? You know, that type of stuff.

Hope to learn great things from all of you!

Jeff

View the latest post Attachment(s) 350 Mariner - some questions/comments

We are in our second season with our 1999 350 Mariner. Overall we LOVE this boat and it is perfect for the type of boating we do.

The things we love most:

The room on the flybridge is just amazing, especially after we had new canvas done in the spring that extends over the rear seat.

    The amount of interior space/storage

Handles really well, as long as its not too windy

    The shower!

Things that we don't love or find curious:

The water that collects on the swim platform, stairs and swim ladder because it is nose heavy

The outlet at the helm on our boat wasn't working at first. Figured out that it is a GFCI outlet (as it should be) but the outlet with the GFCI reset is inside the bow storage area at the back of the helm where all of the wiring is. Not sure how one would ever get in there if you have the optional ice maker.

We have water that mysteriously collects in the furthest forward bilge area. There is a bilge pump in there but it can't remove all the water. Have driven myself crazy trying to figure out where the water is coming from

A couple of questions for other 350/360 Mariner owners:

Has anyone taken out the existing carpet and galley wood floor and installed hardwood or something else in its place? We have two dogs and a cat on board and the carpet needs to be ripped out. Trying to work through the best option for a replacement floor covering

Looking to also possibly replace the cockpit and flybridge carpets. The ones that came with it are getting warn and if they get wet, they take forever to dry. Just removing them and having no covering isn't an option. With two big muddy shedding dogs, that nice white doesn't stay white for more than a few seconds. Looking at the wood look Nuteak (or similar) or the new Infinity woven fabrics that are really light weight and look like they would be easier to keep clean. Does anyone have experience with either of these?

Looking forward to hearing from others who are enjoying their Mariners!

View the latest post Fuse box location

I have a 36' carver mariner vintage '87. I have a very simple question, My nav lights won't work, but I have power to the entire instrument panel. I would like to check the fuse's, but need to know where to look? do I need to remove the instrument panel to access the fuses?
