We are purchasing a 1995 Carver 440 that will get some TLC. The boat is sound but needs upgrades as she has not been used for a couple of years. Looking forward to getting some guidance from the members here.

We are new owners of a 1987 Carver 42 Aft. Our port is near the first lock of the Champlain Canal, gateway to the Adirondacks and Lake Champlain. Our long term plan is to move our Carver to the Gulf Coast. We are glad to have found this forum as we get to know our yacht and firm our travel plans. :captain: Bill

View the latest post Recommendations for Hard Top?

We just became the proud owners of a 1987 Carver 42 Aft. The deck top/sides is all canvas and we are looking to replace with a hard top enclosure. We have seen really nice ones. Any recommendations/installers? We are in the NY area.

View the latest post Porthole Screen 2000 506MY

We need to replace the screens on several of our portholes. I checked with Defender.com and they need a manufacturer. The parts list only gives a Carver part number, no manufacturer. I tried to cross reference that number on google but was not successful. Can anyone help with more info?
Thanks.
Pam

View the latest post Engine Water Pump - Impeller Replacement

Took my 1987 Carver Aft Cabin out this weekend and noticed that the Starboard Engine Temp gets real warmer (i.e. about 200F) when I run it in idle in and out of my Marina. When I get the engine up to over 1000 RPM, the temp comes back down to 150-160, normal. I have looked at the exhaust and water is being flushed out at both Idle and Higher RPM, little less water than at idle. I believe it is time to change the impeller as I haven't noticed any blockage in the strainer.

Are there any good tips/videos out there regarding changing an impeller on a Crusader Engine? I looked on You Tube, didn't find anything specific to my type of engine. Access to the pump looks kind of tough, cover has a belt on it.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.
Scott

View the latest post Lighting fixture source needed

My 1995 Carver Santego 380 has lights that uses a fixture that simply penetrate a flat wire and is held in place by a catch that hooks into a groove. I am replacing the lamps with LED's, but the plastic fixtures are breaking. Probably heat from the incandescent lamp's heat. I looked for a manufacturer, but only found a UL symbol. Any ideas for a source for them? How about a replacement idea? The ones in the berth are the problem. The ones by the wet bar seem OK.

Thanks

John

View the latest post Attachment(s) Small boat big big project!

I am starting this project story about my retirement LRC (long range cruiser) project, this project is not for the average guy, but hopefully he may enjoy watching me do it . I started this project last October, I worked all winter on it, summer work is proceeding but at a slower pace. My target date for commissioning my updated yacht is late spring but more realistically mid summer of 2016. I have photo's of the project from day one till today, I want to post photos but have to import a safe RESIZER program so I can do that ( if you have a safe link for a download please send it to me).

Sorry for all the verbage but a little history on me, my past and what i am hoping to do in the future as it relates to boating and this project.

I am just short of 62 years old, I was put out of work last year by my employer due to several injuries to my hand, (mandatory STD/LTD not requested by me) 38 years for that employer. I started boating with a close friend when I was 13 years old, on long Island NY , south shore where lots of protected waterway and bays can be found, 14 foot open wood old boat with a rely old 18 Evenrude that ran well, we both got our USCG safety cards to make it legal in the 1960s and we both still boat.

More to follow, hope you enjoy following my project.

View the latest post 3807 hull and stringers

Hi there again.....new question.....when did Carver change from stringers with wood and hull coring to the glass top hat style stringer etc in the 3807 models??
We seem to have moved on from the 370 to more of the MY, for the room, still not happy about the stairs but no denying the comfort.....Mike
