View the latest post Bilge pump float switch wiring

88 2757 montego, looking for wiring diagram that shows the float switch operation, all the ones I've seen don't show it. Pump doesn't operate on automatic, fuses are good float switch is good. Trying to figure out how it turns the pump on electrically. Thanks, Ray

View the latest post Attachment(s) Brand New Boat Owner, with Carver 2276

Hello,

We just got out first boat!! It's a 1977 Carver Camper 2276. Where can I get an owner's manual? I have searched online and haven't found one yet.

I have a bunch of really dumb newbie questions I am trying to find the answers to, along with just learning more about our boat.

How do we drain the gray water? I don't know all of the switches on the control panel. Some are pretty self explanatory, some are not, at least not for a brand new boat owner like us. It is still sitting in our front yard, until we learn everything about it, then onto the water we go. Why are there 2 water fill ports? One on the bow and one on the starboard side? And more.

Thanks for any assistance!

Trent & Wendi

View the latest post Attachment(s) Carver 466 - charging house batteries via generator?

On our 2003 Carver 466 we have 2 8D house batteries which run the fridge and ice maker via the inverter if we want for a short period of time. When we first leave the slip it will run them for about 6 hours then we have to go to the generator. Question for other 466 owners: does the generator charge the house batteries when running or not? Ours appear to only charge fully back up when we get back on shore power as we spent the last 4 days out and after the first 6 hour discharge, even after running the generator with the battery chargers on, we would only get 1 - 2 hours of inverter use after that.

Thanks for any feedback.
Doug

View the latest post New Carver 2687 Owner

Hi, my name is Doug and I am currently in the middle of purchasing a 1984 Carver 2687 Monterey through a broker and it should be mine in a couple of weeks. I just retired in Jan. from my job of 42 years, so I have lots of time on my hands to do a complete restoration on the boat and then hit the Intracoastal Waterway. I'm sure I'll have tons of questions and I hope I can offer some advice along the way.

View the latest post Attachment(s) Boat polish or paint?

Ahoy:
I own a 1989 Carver Monterey cabin cruiser.
The last couple of years the shine has faded more and more especially on the long blue strip along the sides.
I have tried several polishes and recently a rubbing compound with no luck. Last year I took it to an auto body shop, which helped for a while but still faded after a few weeks on the water.
I just can't get the color to "pop" like it used to.
All suggestions would be appreciated.

View the latest post Dead Engines - No ignition

I have a 92 Carver 534 with twin 7.4L Mercruisers. We recently had a new inverter installed and the electrician noted numerous problems with the boats electrical system that we agreed to have repaired. We replaced 4 batteries, replaced battery breaker switches, installed ACR's and rewired the main electrical panel. Before this was done the boat ran fine, we just didn't have a split bank and no way to operate 110v equipment when we were off shore power and the boat does not have an installed genset. After all this work was done, the next time we used the boat it started fine and took us to our destination, but would do nothing when it was time to pull anchor and go home. Neither ignition worked for either engine. No click, nothing. Batteries were fine. Boat was towed back to the home marina and the electrician could find nothing wrong. We checked all breakers we could find and found nothing wrong. Ignition fuses were changed. Still nothing. The starter circuit isn't that complicated and it has to be a problem that effects both engines. Any ideas?

View the latest post Batteries Won't Charge with Battery Charger

I had to replace all three batteries on my 405. Now Battery 1 and Battery 2 will not charge using the Battery Charger, either off of Shore Power or Generator Power. I think the Generator battery is charging, but since it carries none of the house load, I'm not really sure. As part of another problem (see "Battery Blowup" in this section) I tested the volts out of the charger per the tech support people guidance, but whenever I leave the boat sitting with anything on and the Battery Charger on with about 20 amps showing on the charger, the batteries still drain. By jumping them, I can start my engines and then charge the batteries, but that shouldn't be required. Any ideas on checking out my problem, and also, do I really need to select only 1 or 2 with the engines running and not BOTH as the manual says?

View the latest post U-Line ice makers not making ice

My Carver 3807 has 2 U-Line ice makers on board 1 in the salon and 1 in the cockpit. Both power up and get cold but no water flows to make ice. The water line to the units does supply water to the inlet valve but the unit does not allow water past this point, is the inlet valve the problem? It just seems odd to me that the exact problem is happening to both units. Any help would be much appreciated.
