View the latest post Attachment(s) Bench seat for Carver 2767 Santego

Hey all

I am looking for the a bench seat for the back deck of my 1987 Carver 2767 Santego. I purchased this boat used last year and it did not come with a bench seat. I have since seen photos where there's a folding bench over the engine hatches.

If anyone has one that's still in good shape, please PM me on here or email me at dparsons@photo-hogs.com.

Thanks

View the latest post Battery Blow-up

I was doing some work in the engine compartment today and found one of my three batteries had blown itself to smitherines. The other two batts are bulged out on the sides. Clearly an overcharging issue, I'd say, but if anyone thinks otherwise, I'd like to know. Didn't have vinegar handy to neutralize the acid, so I diluted with a lot of water and vacuumed it out. Will spray with vinegar tomorrow. Initial thought was to replace all three batts and what I suspect is a faulty battery charger. However, in reading the manual, it says the battery selector should be switched between 1 and 2, and not left in BOTH because the charger can't correctly assess battery charge if it is. I bought it with BOTH selected and have always left it there. Before I dump $700+ into a battery charger, can anyone tell me: 1)is it likely a switchology problem (BOTH vs 1 or 2) caused this problem? And (2) how should I check my charger to see if it's bad?

View the latest post Helm station terminal strips location

I have a 3697 mariner (1986) the manual references positive and negative terminal strips at the helm. I pulled the footwell to try to locate them... I was expecting more or less standard strips, either with or without a cover. Am I blind or is the description in the manual misleading? Any insight?

View the latest post Attachment(s) GPS Chartplotter Purchase Advise Please

I need to get a GPS for my boat...

We barely leave the bay waters in San Diego, every now and then we venture out a couple of miles into the ocean. We're not into fishing (yet!) so thats not important to me, I have no idea which unit to look at buying.

I would like something that connects to my VHF but aside from that I have no clue. I would like to go with something reliable but dont need all the bells and whistles. Something effective and inexpensive.

Any help/advise would be appreciated.

Thanks

View the latest post Moss in window tracks

I have a new to me 3807 with moss growing in the tracks of all of the sliding windows. I had the same problem on my 3207. The problem with both models is removing the glass to clean the tracks. Any idea how to get the glass out or how to clean the tracks with the glass in?

View the latest post Removing and re-seating a large sealed window.

I have a 2000 406, it has large sealed windows. One of them has pulled away from the caulk along the bottom edge. Just spent the day cleaning all the old caulk out on all 4 sides. My first question is, did Carver use any sort of retaining clips to hold the window in place? I ask because I discovered 6 holes that are dilled into the fiberglass in stategic places,(I think the window had been removed at some point, as the starboard engine has been worked on). Also any ideas on how to free the glass from the frame without damaging it and lastly, any recommendations on what to use to re-caulk. I was thinking of 3M's 4000 but I see alot of people recommend Butyl tape, though would'nt I still need to caulk as well. I would appreciate any advice you can offer, Thanks.

Hi, My wife and I own a 2000 Carver 406 with diesels. Purchasd it back in October of 2011. I've been working on it ever since. We love the layout and space, with 2 children and 2 small dogs we still don't feel cramped. We have always preferred Carver, owned a 355 back in the 90's, oh what memories! My latest project is re-seating the large fixed glass window on the port side. Does anyone hve any experience with this issue? The bottom of the window has pulled way from the bottom of the seal. Is there any sort of bracket that holds the glass in place or is it just adhesive/caulk? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

View the latest post Newbie 2557 Carver Montego

G'day all,
Just bought our second Carver Montego, this one is a little more manageable for us thank our first (32'Montego) We love Carvers, even though we're not extremely experienced boaters.
We had the first one for about 5 years but didn't get out much due to engine issues, but we spent many weekends tied to the dock... We traded out of her into a 24' Maxum which we owned for 3 years, this was a much easier boat to handle being inexperienced, it was the boat that actually made us boaters, since we zipped around the bay and out into the coastal waters almost every weekend, we built our confidence with it.
Unfortunately it took on water at the dock and the insurance company totaled her.
We just sea trialled our new used Carver and we love her, same solid Carver construction and layout, we're looking forward to many hours out on the water, down in San Diego's gorgeous Quivera Bay.
