View the latest post How do you turn on flybridge overhead lights?

I have a 2006 Carver 53 that I just purchased. Love it. However I can't for the life of me figure out how to turn on the flybridge overhead lights located in the hardtop roof. I know I must seem like a complete idiot but I've had a few others on the boat to try to find the right switch. I don't know if a fuse isn't working or what but I just want to at least find the right switch first. On the flybridge helm there is no switch labor overhead lights. Help!

View the latest post sliding salon door noise

I noticed on the weekend a gritty or grinding noise when moving the door on our 350 (1998) Mariner. Appears to be at the top of the door. After continued use for the weekend it disappeared. Is there a recommended lubricant for the track? Is it a big job to remove door if necessary?

Here's the obligatory first post. My name is Eric and I am just starting my research into carvers. This is our first year on the water and we are working towards full time live aboard. Right now we are on an 05 Sea Ray 260DA. It works out well for getting oriented and learning.

View the latest post AC on 3807 has been fited with thermostats, how to start pump first.

Greetings and thank you for taking the time to read this. I recently purchased an 88 3807 that has been fitted with thermostats instead of the 3 switch controls of the past. Historically when I would turn on the AC in my other boats I would turn the AC knob to start, then check to see that water was being discharged then turn AC to run or soemthing like that. Anyway now the unit just comes on all at once but I dont see any water being discharged. I checked the through hull, the screen, the impeller and all look fine. Do I need to prime this system with water somehow or should I just let it run a bit longer and see if the water comes through. I have only run it for about 2 minutes at a time so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

View the latest post Carver 350 Mariner Battery 1... 2..... Both

Before I submit to the $110/hour mechanic at the marina solution, I would greatly appreciate some feed back on this. Please excuse the length of the following.

My 2001 350 mariner has the batteries set up as follows.

The battery switch in the salon safety breaker panel has 3 positions 1, 2, and Both. According to the Carver documentation the battery selected will supply power for starting and house and will be charged by the alternators when running. They recommend alternating the batteries between 1 and 2 and that Both should only be used when one of the batteries cannot start the engines.

I recently replaced battery 2 (Group 31 deep cycle / starting) with 4 Trojan T105 6 volt arranged in a series / parallel arrangement.

After re-connecting everything and testing the voltages etc. I have the following situation.

Battery Switch in Position 1.
House OK.
Port Engine Start OK.
Starboard Engine no crank but the alarms and fuel pump run with key in the run position

Battery Switch in Position 2 or Both.
Everything is good both engines start and house is supplied.

Each battery has 2 negatives connected that go to various locations on the engines etc... very hard to track. My suspicion is that I may have upset this when i re connected things back up.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts or suggestions.
Fraser

View the latest post Front Hatch Weatherstripping

I have a 1990 Carver 380 that is leaking around the glass housing and the frame. Prior owners have tried to Silicone the edges where it makes contact with the frame to no avail. I have taken it apart and found that it appears there is weatherstripping on the frame and on the glass. Anyone know where I can get the weatherstripping or if you know of a good fix?

Thank you

View the latest post Caver 404Oil Pressure Guage Needle Bouncing

Hi

I noticed, while cruising in some moderately rough seas that my port side oil pressure needle was dropping and recovering very quickly. I would describe it more as "bouncing" than actually a drop (lasted less than a second). Total drop was maybe 10 psi. A couple of questions:
1) Has anyone else experienced this?
2) Any ideas on what could cause it....I am think a connection, needle, etc. issue.

Now for the dumb question. I am going to check the port side engine oil level. Any guidance on where to look for the dip stick would be great.

Thanks
Rich
