View the latest post Attachment(s) Fix Floor Access Panels That Flex Underfoot.

Throughout your salon, you have floor access panels. After years of walking on them, some of the panels may feel spongy at the edges. If the panels and floor are in otherwise good condition, it might just be the panel supports that are weakening. The factory used small bolts on my panel support strips, but I felt they were spaced too far apart to maintain full support without flexing under foot. This is an easy fix, with a screw gun and some wood screws

The panel supports on my boat are wood strips that are bolted to the plywood subfloor. The panel supports hold the access panel. They just need a little more reinforcement.

If you have this issue, use a screw gun and some wood screws. I used Number 10, 1-1/2 inch screws. Screw up from underneath. See photos. It's a little bit difficult holding the screw gun and screw upside down, but it's achievable. You may not be able to reach around the entire panel opening, but any screws you can attach will greatly improve the floor.

I tackled this job today on sections of my floor panel, that I felt were flexing too much. Now the floor panels feel rock solid underfoot. Or just like new. Actually, better than new. No movement at all, which is what I prefer.

View the latest post Painting wood in the bilge

I have to add a new wooden platform to mount a battery in my engine compartment. I would appreciate some recommendations on what kind of paint to use. I may also paint the existing platforms while I am at it.

Thanks
Fraser

View the latest post 1987 Mariner water system

I'm having some trouble keeping my fresh water pump working and now the onboard pump is pushing water out the shore water receptacle. I have owned this boat for 3 years and installed a fresh water pump 4 times. It keeps dying on me. Is this a common problem? Also last weekend I noticed the water tanks draining really fast and found that the fresh water pump was pushing water out of the shore water receptacle on the back deck. Anyone have any advice?

View the latest post Fuel starving on 2000 mariner 350

just put boat in for the season. It started up fine. Went for ride. When started again starboard engine stalled. Seemed liked it flooded. Started again but now continues to stall even when idle. Checked fuel pressure on this engine and its lower by 15lbs than other engine. Reves high in neutral fine. Any suggestions.

View the latest post New Vessel

Hello all!

it appears that I will take delivery of my 1984 36 Mariner on 18 Jun! I am super stoked and excited :) I would appreciate any input or guidance........She's a touch larger than my 93 Bayliner 2755 that I have...

I would love to install a Teak and Holly Floor in the salon. Are there existing kits for these??

Does anyone know what resides the carpet in the salon? is it fiberglass or is it plywood?

She will be christened "Decompression Tank II" and will reside at Canyon Lake in Arizona.

Thanks!

Bob

View the latest post Volvo Penta MS5A Transmission issue

Hello, anybody out there retro fit any other type of transmission/drive into their boat that matches up with the Volvo penta 740 motor? I have a 1991 33 carver aft cabin cruiser and my transmission is shot. Volvo Penta doesn't make them anymore. I have heard the ZF63a matches up well. Anybody have any experience with this? I'm hoping I don't have to move my engines.

Thanks

View the latest post New 34C Member With Questions

Hi,

I'm In the process of purchasing a new 2014 C34 which is my first ocean boat. I previously owned a Cobalt which was used in fresh water. I'm excited to finalize the purchase and take delivery of the boat. Addindg the 12HDS Lowrance system with 4g Radar as well as an auto pilot system. Any input or recommendations would be appreciated. I Live in Southern California and the boat will be used locally.

Carver appears to be a quality boat and I like the layout of the 34C. I'm a little concerned with the power of the twin 300hp gas engines but from all the feedback I have read the power seems to be adequate. Again any feedback or advice would be appreciated. I chose the boat over a 2007 40 foot Sundancer.

Lastly, I wanted to reach out for some advice in regards to Carver's customer service. The boat I am purchasing has the factory radar tower and had some questions regarding the option. I first called after hours and left a message for customer service. No return call. Next I went online and submitted a contact request last week. Still no response. Is this normal? I love the product but am not used to a company not responding to customers. Any advice or feedback would be appreciated. I love the boat but am hesitant to pull the final trigger if this is how I will be treated.

Thank you in advance for welcoming me into the group!
