Hello,
Fellow CYO's I wanted to introduce myself.....avtech001 is my login name, real name Bruce Tripp, I live in Nashville,TN. And my wife and I boat in the Cumberland River at mile marker 175 where Rock Harbor Marine is located.
We have a pretty nice setup here since there is a new Resturant to replaced the one we lost in the 2010 May 500 year flood. I believe it has around 30 inches is 24 hrs. Or somewhere there abouts.
We also have a lift hole with a 75 ton travel-lift and new 70 and 60 foot slips with new transit dock 300 feet long.
It not a large area since it was an old rock quarry that happen to breach the river 50 odd years ago ,I believe.
Anyway that's where we slip our carver boat and it's are second Carver before was a mariner 36 2001.
So hello everyone. I'm new to the site and I'm wondering around the site.

View the latest post Just put the boat away for the winter

Inside heated because I have more projects to do.
This winter she gets a floscan 9000, autopilot, engine room sniffer, high water alarm, completely new cabin sound system (Kipsch in wall speakers installed last winter), and I have to rebuild the soft bow pulpit.

View the latest post Raw water strainer maintenance

My boat is used in salt water full time. How often is it recommended to check/clean raw water strainer?

And more importantly what tool are you using to open it? Some type of spanner wrench but I am having trouble finding one. Any suggestions?

Just purchased our 1981 Carver 3607 Aft Cabin "FOOTLOOSE" last month. What a lovely lady she is. Hope to have many a good time aboard for years to come. Twin Pleasurecraft 225 hp V-8 diesels that purr like kittens.

My wife and I are looking for an older 36 Mariner, model 3697. Great layout for entertaining and someone with bad knees. We've seen several with some pretty soft spots in the deck. No ser added hardware suggesting an entry point. Anyone have experience with this?

View the latest post 325 Aft Cabin: Ideas for seating and table on aft sun deck?

Hi,

I want to add some sort of bench seat arrangement, perhaps 'L-shaped' on my aft sun deck. If feasible, I would like to incorporate a small table mounted via center pole to the sun deck.
Has anyone done a project like this? We are new to this size boat, have only owned small ski boats in past. My wife wants to have a nice bench seat that is somehow secured to the deck, along the stern and starboard rails (L shaped).

Any suggestions on where to shop and type of seat to look for?

Thank you in advance for tips.

-Andy

When I turn on the batteries the starboard engine starts to turn over with noise coming from the battery switch. Is this a problem with the battery switch or could it be related to the ignition switch?

View the latest post Need 12v on Port side in the galley

We just installed an HD tv antenna and need 12v for the booster. I found a lot of audio equipment under/behind the passenger seat, along with a route for the cable tv and nav light wiring. The problem is: I can only remove a cover that is already inside a stowage compartment to see in to the audio equipment location. No way to work around in there, though.

Can I remove the side seat to gain access? I only see two bolts in the stowage location that the seat would mount, both toward the bow.

Not sure how else I will get 12v to the booster location. Alternate location for the booster plate will be considered, too.

Any help will be appreciated!

View the latest post New guy from Chattanooga

New to big boating; got our Montego 3257 (37' LOA) early June, 2014. Previous boat was a Chris Craft 21 Concept Cuddy (22' LOA), and before that was a 16.5' bow-rider.

I've taken to the twins pretty good and the wife puts it into the slip pretty darn good, too. Heck, she taught me boating, so I wasn't surprised. I've been on iBoats for quite some time, but haven't seen much action in the Carver section there, so I am hoping to gain some knowledge here.

I can turn a wrench, so I hope to save a little money on DIY things. I know where my (afraid I'm getting in over my head) limit is, but first I hope to understand what each project entails.

I've learned a good Google string to search specific sites, so I will look closely here before I ask questions on most things.

I am a member of GMTNation.com, a forum that is VERY active, and I've found many posts get a reply pretty quick here, too. Let me know if I should consider joining other forums as I learn the mechanics of this new-to-us Montego.

Thanks and we'll see you on the water!
