View the latest post Where can I find the rubber "track" for the sliding windows

We have a 1992 350 Aft Cabin and need to replace the lower window track on the sliding windows in the salon and aft cabin. It looks like they were originally supplied by Taylor Made.

As always, if you're in Manteo NC, stop for a cocktail!

Thanks,

Rich, Diana & Sammi (the dog)

View the latest post Top end loss of power on 1 engine

Morn' All,

Since I bought the boat last year, 1 engine has always been lagging and it seems to be getting worse. At ~20 MPH, the starboard engine will be at 4000 RPM's and the port engine will be at ~3000-3200 RPM's. I can give the port throttle a little extra, but it does not speed up hardly any more.

I have rebuilt the carbs, replaced the points and spark plugs, set the idle and set the timing. I just can't seem to gain much here. The centrifugal advance seems loose and flexible. I just found the exhaust cooling system was plugged I. The manifolds and the risers. I also replaced the propellers in the pump.

Any thoughts about what else to look at?

Thanks,
Steve

View the latest post 42 emblems removal

1990 Carver 42 with oval 42 emblems on both sides. I've already removed the Carver 42 emblems from both sides, they were attached with some sort of fixative (?) and popped off. The oval 42s are another matter. They seem the be attached thru-hull some way?? Any one have any experience removing them? Really hate to pull down wall carpet before I know what I'm doing...

What's your favorite?

I have a ram mount for my iPad in my pilot house and have the following apps running:

Nobletec Time Zero - BEST navigation app on the planet

AnchorWatch HD - great anchor app

Motion X GPS HD - great app if you are running with a group of boaters, can view their location on each app

Active Captain - self explanatory

1989 Mercruiser 3.7L Thermostat question?

My twin engine Carver runs about 120 130 degrees.
Boat ran great all summer, I believe the previous owner (I just bought at beginning of year) has removed the thermostats. Should I replace them with original 160 degree ones or leave as is?

View the latest post Cleaners or methods for engine cleaning?

I've noticed that my engine compartments and engines in particular get really dirty with the usual black greasy type dirt that flies around. I was thinking, possibly wrongly, that perhaps taking a power washer to the engine compartment, sans electronics and alternator etc. might be a good way to get the compartment clean. Perhaps a little drastic; do any of you have any good suggestions for getting the engines and compartment clean whereby all the stuff falls to the bilge and then can be shop vacc'd up, or some other method? There are just too many angles and contortions to do a really thorough job by hand with rags and 409 imho.

View the latest post New to Forum

Hello to all,
I am in the process of purchasing a 2005 41CMY with surveys scheduled for 9/16/14. My wife and I are both retired and currently live in North Carolina in a small town north of Charlotte. We plan to move the boat to Sanford, Florida and spend winters cruising the ICW. We look forward to hopefully being members of this forum provided we get a good survey.
Thanks in advance for your patience as we steeply climb the learning curve.

View the latest post New Owner: '98 325 Aft Cabin MY

We just purchased this boat last week. Motored it home to Portland, OR from Puget Sound out the Strait of Juan de Fuca, down the WA coast and over the Columbia River Bar. A great adventure and extremely helpful to me for working knowledge of the boat. We put approximately 25hrs on the engines during the trip home.

The only other boat we have ever owned was a 19' bowrider /ski boat, so this 32' Carver is a new experience for us!

Look forward to sharing thoughts/tips with fellow Carver owners.

Best regards,
Andy

View the latest post Just bought a 1977 33 Mariner FE 3396 did I do right?

Hello Group,

My wife and I just got this old beauty. I've been around boats my whole life. But, never had bought an old as boat as this Mariner. Does anyone out there have one and can fill me in on it's highs and lows. We plan to get rid of the house and live on it for awhile. And of course travel with it too. But being of that age is there anything I should look for. There are no 7/11's out there to pull up and ask questions if you know what I mean. So please, I would love some word of advice.

Thanks,

Bob
