View the latest post Montego 534 rpm at WOT

Have a 1992 with twin Mercruiser MIE 7.4i. Just purchased and had engines gone over - carbs rebuilt, new fuel filters, new distributor components, plugs, wires. 9 Run fine and will go to over 5000 rpm in neutral but only reach 3200 in gear. I think they should get to 4400. Any ideas? Wrong props? Issue with v-drives? What else can I do to diagnose?

View the latest post Correct props???

We have a 1987 Carver 4227, twin 454 with 2:91:1 gear reduction. It currently has 24 X 22 props and I'm wondering if these are fresh or salt water application, boat resides at Lake Superior. Cruises nice at 10/12 Knots and I'm getting 26 at WOT, does this sound about right for this boat??

View the latest post New to Carver

Hello Everyone,

My wife and I now the proud owners of a 1987 Carver 4227...not the aft cabin. I just found out that they only produced this boat for 2 years, seems a little odd its appears to be nice layout. Anyway we are looking forward to meeting other owners and look forward to any advice you have to offer.

View the latest post Carver Project boats?

Hi Guys,

First post here and glad I found this forum! I'm a long time fan of Carvers and almost had a 3607 bought last year until my slip was given away(long story). My question--does anyone know where I could find a project Carver Aft cabin in 38'+. I'm in southern Oklahoma, and trying to find an older carver that is on par with what I want has been tough. I am now thinking of looking for a project boat that I can re-do interior, appliances etc. during this winter. I am open to anything out there, in any condition, with motors or without. I've tried google, ebay and other sources but not having any luck. I can't imagine there isn't a derelict Carver sitting in dry dock somewhere. I would prefer something within 500 miles of Oklahoma but that might be asking too much. How about insurance salvage? Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Jordan

View the latest post Attachment(s) Battery configuration

This is my first summer with our 2001 350 mariner. We have the standard configuration 2 batteries for house and engines and 1 for the genny. This configuration does not seem able to keep the fridge running at anchor. I have surmised that the battery protection kicks in and shuts the fridge down after which the batteries still have lots of umph to start the engines.
I would appreciate hearing what configurations other use: number of batteries, 6v vs. 12v etc. etc.

Thank you
Fraser

View the latest post Stink from heads

I have Raritan electric toilets, original equipment and they use salt water. They need to be rebuilt I think because especially the aft head dosent go down well. I have some kits to replace seals etc.
Anyway, they both stink up the bilges, especially the forward head. I wonder if the vent is somehow not properly venting to the outside and venting into the bilge. When the holding tanks reach about half full and we close up the boat it stinks in the boat sometimes as well.
We have tried every kind of tank additive and some work better than others but the heads still stink and the more full they get the more they stink.
Someone said to change them to run on fresh water, but I doubt that will really cure this problem.
Anyone else have this problem? Or a possible solution? Hopefully without throwing a whole lot more money away.

View the latest post No 110 power to aft deck outlet

Hi, I'm new to this forum. We just purchased our 355 aft cabin last August. Last year the outlet and ice maker on our aft deck worked fine. This spring we discovered that the outlets (one for the ice maker and one outlet) are not working. Have replaced the GFI outlets in the salon and forward head as well as the outlet on the aft deck hoping that was the problem. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a switch that I have forgotten about? This is really baffling me and my more experienced dock buddies. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

View the latest post 1988 Mariner salon/cabin side window

Hi,
I need some help or imformation for replacing the salon/cabin side window. The boat that was in the slip next to us ,decided to miss the and ended up breaking the window and the metal frame is bent and pieces of it are lost.
I would like to know where a replacement window/frame could be located.
I am in the NYC area.
Thank you
