View the latest post Inverter installation... No wiring schematic!
- Posted by: KnotSure » February 11th, 2024, 8:15 pm
- Forum: Electrical
So I'm wanting to add an inverter/charger and some monitoring capability (as well as a dedicated house bank) to my 1996 455. I think I finally have a grasp on how I want the future system to look, but my problem now is I can't find ANYTHING with any details about how the original electrical system was wired. In the owner's manual for both DC and AC Systems there's a schematics page... But it's blank and says "Not available at time of printing" which is less than helpful. Anybody know where I can find one, or who can at least help me understand where the shore power goes between the inlet on the stern and the breaker panel?

Howdy folks, looking for some advice on the following situation: I "inherited" a boat from my uncle....he's not able to enjoying the boating life anymore due to terminal illness and has asked me to sell his boat of him. I'm not a boat savvy so just looking for a ballpark price for what his boat might be worth so I can recognize a decent price when someone offers. Here's what I know about it: 1987 Carver 32', hour meter shows 1272. Gas burner with dual engines and a separate generator. Ran up an down the river with in fall of 23, then we had it winterized by a marine service company who replaced the batteries, replaced all spark plugs, got the generator running again and just a general tune-up (a little over $2k worth of service). I've attached a few pics of it, much appreciation for advice/value!

Good evening all,
I'm the brand new owner of a 1985 3207 aft cabin. I have no clue what I have gotten myself into! I have dozens of questions, but I'll look in the existing threads before I ask something that has already been answered.
I do have a quick question - The boat is in Louisville KY. I'm at Lake of the Ozarks MO. I think the width is 11' 7" and the weight 12,000#. To get a transportation quote I'll need the height. We can remove the bimini, so the height to the top of the fly bridge to the lowest point. I guess we will remove the props and rudders.
Also and recommendations or warnings?
Thanks
Gaynor Blake

Well, I did it. Put an offer on a Carver Voyager 530 and it was accepted. I'm looking for a surveyor who is up on the Voyager model line. Prefer in the mid-west but can be any location if they are willing to travel.
I did a pretty good inspection but didn't test anything yet as the boat is up dry, and no power to anything.

Hello
we, my girlfriend and i, was just given a Carver 3396 Mariner 1981 model with two Volvo 155hp located in the Canary islands. It has been used by an elderly man as winter "residence" getting away from the cold in Norway. We already have a house in the northend of the island with a hobby workshop so i am well equipped to take on this task i hope
It is a big project i think, a lightning strike killed the batteries 4 years ago and due to his age (88) he did not bother replacing it so the engines have not been started since. Due to the lightning strike all the electrical need checking of course, and the toilet is out of order...Well, the plan is to use it as he has at first, as a "cabin" down south on the island starting out with fixing the looks like polishing/paint and appliances etc. replacing all textiles and so on, and then start fixing the technical bit by bit as we go along. I hope to find inspiration here and hopefully get some help when i need advice

With the small water tanks, I think it is a shame to use fresh water to flush the head. There is an unused thru hull next to the shower sump. Has anyone used that thru hull for flush water?

This is going to sound tacky, but I am getting older. I had my Mariner compounded last spring with Turbo Cut compound. Looks great! I applied Mequiars Premium wax. Here is where I'm going with this. Sitting in the warm storage bay, the hull still looks like a mirror. The guy that did the compounding mentioned he thought this was the first time it was ever compounded. Made a heck of a mess with grit all over the floor. I normally regard polishing as an annual requirement, but not sure I am going to get any value out of 10 hours of polishing. Does anyone else go multiple seasons after a compound/wax process? We did have a sunny, dry season last year. Thoughts?

- Forum: Gas Engines/Transmissions
Just purchased a 1986 3207 AC with Crusader 350s. The boat has been upgraded to electronic ignition. The prices at the marina for gas is out of this world. I live on the water so the boat will be stored at my dock. Trying to save some costs here and looking at what type of fuel that is recommended as I would like to purchase fuel at the local gas station and fill up at my house with a transfer pump or 20 5 gallon cans if that's what it takes! Just looking to see if it is even recommended to run 87-89 fuel in the motors or generator and any tips on fueling at home to save money safely. Thanks.

Good people of Carver-dom.
Just retired in May, have owned many smaller boats since the 70s, now moving up. Currently have a Sea Ray 38 aft cabin I'm going to sell. I'm looking at the Voyager line as I think they represent the high end esthetic class and still maintain some vintage elements of style. Will likely end up with the 530, but also looking at the 45/46 and the 56/560, although I can't for the life of me understand why the 56 was built. Maybe they already had a 56' mold?
One thing I know I'm going to have, or add is that cool automated remote control setup. If anyone has experience getting it installed, and using it, drop me a note with any advice. I will need to add a stern thruster first, and then the controller. My wife is semi-disabled and not able to do a lot of helping with lines. But - we love to get out on the boat, which means a fair amount of single person dockage.
Any other advice vis-a-vis Carvers and the Voyager line is welcome as well.

View the latest post Attachment(s) Fuel (Gas) Send Unit aka fuel level float
- Posted by: kgarguilo » January 28th, 2024, 11:47 am
- Forum: The Project Center
In my quest to have more information available to me while I am away, I just installed a Victron Cerbo GX. Btw, very cool. My next add on is to monitor my fuel tanks via the Cerbo that appears on my MFD Garmin 8612 Plotter.
I am trying to identify what kind of Fuel send units are on my 1999 Carver 406. Meaning manufacturer and specs. The only number I see on the 5 hole mounted send unit is 3349-17 A9.
Ultimately The tank level ports on the Cerbo GX can each be configured to work US tank senders (240 - 30 Ohm) standards; or to configure a custom Ohm resistance range between 0 Ohm and 300 Ohm (requires firmware v2.80 or higher). The tank level inputs are resistive and should be connected to a resistive tank sender. The built-in tank sensor connections do not support mA or 0-5V type sensors, this type will require additional accessories or replacement with a resistive type sensor.
In short, I need to know if my Fuel Sender is Resistance or mA / 0-5v It would be ideal if the specific range of resistance was known. Or, any idea of the manufacturer? Google is leading me down too many rabbit holes without specific knowledge. As always, any help would be greatly appreciated.
