View the latest post glendinning Cables

Hello, on The 2005 Carver 396 can you tell me where I can find the Glendinning power cable system. Not accessible through the engine room and I am assuming somewhere in the aft cabin. Thought I would ask before I start taking apart
Thanks Bob

View the latest post 76 mariner 28ft twin 302 carb issue

I am a former mechanic and i hate carbs with a passion, perhaps its because im a young wippersnapper and can't figure out where to hook up the lap top. any way i just bought a 76 28ft mariner with twin pleasurecraft 302 fords and v drives. port engine fires right up and i mean right up. starboard fights you then floods and blows black smoke after a few minutes. so i tried a simple trick and swapped the carbs. starboard now happier than a clam. the previous owner had both carbs rebuilt last year and had continual problems with the starboard engine and had that carb rebuilt 2 more times to no avail. i have recipts for the services. is there somewhere on this toilette like fuel delivery system than can be cracked and causing it to pour fuel into the manifold? or possible something that is easily overlooked when rebuilding a holley 4 barrel? I'd rather not have to buy a new or remaned carb if i can fix it easily.

View the latest post Carver 366 Bow thruster OIL

Has anyone used a generic oil to top up a QL (Volvo) bp800. My manual calls for a Volvo p/n 41100129 oil which is not readily available where I live.

It smells and looks like Auto transmission fluid. It is red and very light. Any advice would be appreciated. My location is Queensland Australia.... a long way from home!!

View the latest post DOWNUNDER OWNER

Hi everyone,

I moved my Carver 366 from Jacksonville FLA to Bribie Island Australia. Obviously I used a freighter via Panama for the move. The tanks on the carver are verrrry limited.
I now live on a waterfront property with my pride and joy out on my pontoon. It is really livin'the deream and that is the name of the vessel Livin'The Dream
Now that I've joined the forum, I hope you can all be my 'First Mate' and help me as I am in a very remote location where services on a scale of 1 to 10 would not register.
I will be posting my first help request later today for your advice.
Cheers for now

Claude Xuereb

View the latest post potential carver owner

Not sure if I am on the right type of forum or not, but my wife and I are seriously considering purchasing a very old carver. It's a 1974 that had a restoration started but then the owner needed to move (supposedly). We are looking for more cabin than cruiser and this seems to fit the bill. Being that I am a mechanic by trade repairs to the engines and electrical parts do not worry my especially at the price I'm getting it. My main concern is what are the common issues of this model from this era just so I can know what I am getting into. we just got out of a Sea Ray and are looking for something bigger.
Here is a link to what we are considering.

View the latest post Boat rail screens...where to find?

Has anyone seen any rail screens like the one on this boat?
http://www.chitwood-charters.com/56FootCarverPOP18.html

My 560 has only plain rails and I don't want my little nephews wriggling through the rails. The rail screen looks nice and it'd serve a great purpose.

If anyone's seen anything like those screens, let me know!
Thanks!

View the latest post Rusted aluminum fuel tanks

We have a1996 430 Carver. We believe the previous owners knew there was issues with the fuel tanks but did not disclose. We took out the starboard tank, found several rust pin holes. We cant remove the port unless we take engine out. So my question is there a bladder or something we can put inside the tanks without having to remove?

View the latest post Attachment(s) Spring Prep

No pics to show yet, but I've started buffing and waxing...only have the flybridge shell to do. She is shining better than last year...it's quite impressive for a 16 year old boat! We're also making new curtains for the entry door and I'm installing underwater lighting after I sand off all of the red bottom paint and change it to black. Why the previous owner changed it to red is beyond me...especially with the green canvas!
