View the latest post Deep Cycle House Batteries

Hi Folks,
Has anyone looked into using industrial 2 volt batteries for house batteries? I currently have 4 - 6 volt L16 batteries for my house batteries that are 8-9 years old now. I've been talking to a friend of mine who owns a battery store, and he's recommending these fork lift batteries for my house batteries. I need lots of amp hours because I'm running a 110 volt fridge in my Carver 4207 Carver.
Ideas any one?
Thanks
Al :-P

View the latest post windlass system

I just bought my brother-in-laws 1986 3207 aft cabin. He owned it with his father who became I'll and wanted out. My question is regarding the installation of a windlass system. Which brand fits this boat. They had attempted installing one, but ordered one from catalog. I'm looking for brand and model that someone else has working on their boat. Thanks.

View the latest post Mariner

For the first time since the late 1960's or early 1970's there is no Mariner model in Carver's line up. Now, I don't think I'll ever be in the market for one, but, I'm surprised that Carver saw fit to abandon a model that has been so instrumental in their success and survival. Admittedly, it was long in tooth, but instead of (or in addition to) the C34, I believe they should (have) designed a new 32 -35 Mariner. These are the boats that saved Carver from extinction in the past. Why would you abandon that heritage? :banghead:

View the latest post Just bought a '97 355

Hello to all. I am new here and a new Carver owner. I would appreciate any heads-up advise you may have on the 355. I boat on Lake Lanier in north Georgia. I am an ex-sailboat owner who has moved to the dark side as many of my sailing buddies would say. I love the boat so far and have had a great time with it over the last week that I've owned it. I do have a quick question. The temperature here got into the low 20's last night and I wanted to make sure that I didn't have any freezing pipes, etc., but the lowest setting on my central heating is only 65 degrees. I don't want electricity bills to eat me out of house and home, so what advice do you have on economically keeping the boat warm enough to stop freezing? Thanks.

View the latest post Carver Digital Tachometer

We have a 2003 Carver 564. Starboard digital tachometer works sometimes. Is there a relationship between the tachometer and the sync gauge?

Sometimes the needle on the sync gauge is burried to the port side.

Does this effect my performance. I have Volvo D12's.

View the latest post Carver 4207 autopilot

Hi folks,
New member of this website, but this is our second Carver. Our first was a 1987 3207 aft cabin with twin 5.7 Crusaders. It was a big boat for a 32 footer, but the 4207 is absolutely HUGE inside for a 42 footer!! We do most of our cruising in the Gulf Islands and south towards Olympia, Washington.
We have only owned this boat for a few months, but I'm having some trouble with the Robertson AP200 autopilot. I'm trying to find out where the fluxgate compass and the computer is located. Has anyone had any luck finding these components on a 4207?
Thanks for your help
Al

View the latest post Questions on a Carver 3087

I just recently purchased a project yacht - 3087 Allegra Carver. The boat needs a fair amount of detailing (pressure washing and buffing). The hours are roughly 500 hrs with twin 454 with Bravo drives. Been boating most all my life and understand the many concerns of this boat and its mechanical, so understand many of the pitfalls and wallet draining issues. I purchased it at a firesale price and can tell that the boat is more about neglect than anything. I was able to fire one engine, and the other I am told has a starter or wire connection issue. The drives had been serviced two/three years ago and the engine area is bone dry. Considering we are in one of the wettest regions and the boat is outside in the weather with just a toneau cover I was surprised, especially being it is in the water.

I have a few questions, I would like to ask as I have owned a single drive boat for years, and not a Carver yacht.

1. I noticed both motors have power sterring units, but only one has a belt to it. Can anyone tell me if it is typical to have only one power sterring pump functioning, or shoud both be hooked up?

2. Is there a good source to find parts for this Yacht such as a bimini top or full top?

3. Aside from Craigs list, is there any good suggested sites for finding other parts for this boat - ie: generator, windlass, or other?

Thank you for any info you can pass along.

View the latest post Attachment(s) Trying to find parts for my toilet.

I have a 1986 Carver Santa Cruz 26 and I am trying to find parts for the toilet but I don't know what brands or model the toilet is. It has a foot valve that opens the bottom to let the waste fall to the holding tank and also lets fresh water in at the same time. I am trying to find out if there is a rebuild kit for that.
