View the latest post Changing the dinette upholstery on a 1992 33' aft cabin

When we purchased Probably Knot last fall, the Admiral stated emphatically that the upholstery would have to go. So...... About 3 weeks ago I had the task of removing the old stuff. Easy, right? As it turns out, Carver used lots of fasteners to hold the cushion trim in place. It took almost an hour to find and remove all the screws holding the 2 trim pieces to the dinette.

Silly me I want to live on a boat.posting.php?mode=post&f=2&sid=b0f5defcce01dc726219eab7443726d9#
Ive looked for some time and let some good boats go and looked too hard at some I should have run away from.
Today I find myself negotiating for a 1977 Carver 33.
He says it will make the 100mi trip home via the intercoastal. I hope its so.
I will look to your site for info, upgrades and wisdom.

See you around,

Leebee

View the latest post Attachment(s) New 2276 owner and new to forum

Hello all,
I have recently purchased a 1977 Carver 2276 Camper Boat, I am trying to restore it back to original (as best as I can) For the most part, it has been easy because the vessel has been taken care of. It has a Chevy 305 That runs great and a mercruiser 898 outdrive that I have replaced the lower unit on. I have restored all of the teak woodwork, and I have been looking for a few things (Camper Canvas, Front Seats - need to find the upholstery for the rear seats -It had the upgraded Gold package - I need to rework the side windows, find channel or something- to keep the water out of the cabin, and a few other odds and ends.
If you have any resources and or parts for this model, please let me know.
Thank You,
Tim

View the latest post TV Reception/Antenna Issue

Greetings all, hope you can help me out. Just took possession of a 2006 36 Mariner. So far we're loving it. I'm having an issue with TV reception however. Bottom line...blue screen, no TV reception at all. We have a Sole brand 20" LCD TV/Monitor. There is an antenna on the radar arch that has a tiny red light on it I assume to indicate it's working, but we've never got it to light up. Someone told me that this particular TV isn't set up for digital, and I'm also told it would require a converter that converts analog signals to digital. Tried that, didn't work. Part of the difficulty is that I can't see the back of the TV. There are 2 black cables coming out of the cabinet but they are screwed together. There's also a white box in the cabinet with 3 cable receptacles in it, and I have no idea what this is for unless it has something to do with connecting to satellite or cable, which we don't have at the dock. If you have some knowledge or suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

View the latest post Gas vs. Diesel

I'm planning to purchase a 36-40' boat to live on in one of the marina's in Southern Calif.. I'm new to boating and need help with some basic information. I plan to go on couple excursions per month. One of the local islands is about 165 mile round trip and the other is approx. 50 miles. I know that gas engines are far less expensive and will run far less hours between rebuilds than diesels but what is the number of hours you can run the a gas engine with "average " maintenance? Also, what is the "average" for diesels?

Is there a rule of thumb for the average fuel consumption per mile for gas vs. diesels?

Any help would be appreciated.

Does anyone know the square footage on a 1985 voyager 2827? I'm going to install air/heat pump and need footage for sizing. Should I go with a water pump or roof model?

View the latest post Attachment(s) Carver 444 exhaust problems

I have recently purchased a Carver 444 2003 model, we sailed the motor yacht from Victoria to New South Wales Australia( 649 nm) and have been experiencing exhaust system failures, the fibre glass exhaust tubing on the starboard engine is delaminating and leaking water and exhaust fumes.
On the sea run prior to leaving after I had the engines serviced the first exhaust section after the turbo fell off due to weakening of the end of the pipe, we replaced that section with a stainless steel section however the rest of the system is leaking fumes and water through the skin of the pipes,
they are also getting soft.
I have located a US Coast Guard recall No 070042T that refers to muffler problems, is anyone aware of anything in reference to exhaust tubing and a replacement /repair methodology.
