View the latest post Attachment(s) Starlink Getting More Popular

Starting to see more Starlinks on boats this year. There are 2 boats next to me on an island. One has his on the arch and the Sailboat has his on the picnic table. I took off my Satellite TV dome and sold it this spring before they become an unwanted item and replaced it with a Starlink after a trial period last year. Must say this is a great addition to any larger sized boat. Satellite TV domes will definitely go the way of the Dinosaurs shortly.

View the latest post New Guy

Hello,

My wife and I just purchased (ok, my wife purchased) a 1990 Carver 3607. We bought from a fiend who has owned her for 3 years, so we know the boat and recent maintenance pretty well. We are new to this class of boat, well boating in general. We are both pilots that love flying seaplanes however.

Thanks for letting us join!

Steve

View the latest post Marine Batteries

I am looking to buy a marine battery for a new 16ft boat that I ordered. I'm trying to decide on GTK Marine Power battery. I will have a 46# trust FCTM, bilge pump, Electric start 25hp Yamaha, depth finder and a few other things running on it. What do you guys suggest? I have a yellow top Optima on my truck now(same battery for 10yrs) and love it but have never used their marine battery before and wonder if it will have enough capacity to run everything for a full day of Bass fishing. Whatcha think guys?

View the latest post Windlass for carver 3207?

I would like a recommendation for type and location of a new windlass install for a 3207. I would like to put it above deck rather than in the locker, but would there be any issue with the rode piling up on the deck rather than going down neatly through that small hole? Horizontal or vertical?
Thanks in advance,
john.

View the latest post Heat Exchanger

I just flushed my heat exchanger - a friend at the dock suggested using a product on the inside of the hose ends before sliding them back on and tightening the clamps to help with the seal. Has anyone used such a product? If so, what's it called?

View the latest post Packing nut torque

Hi, all, on my 1998 445 with Cummins diesel’s the starboard shaft at the packing nut has started a drip about one per second while the shaft is not turning. I pulled about 4 to 5 gallons out of the bilge in 24 hours. Mechanics are going to take a look at it later today. Obviously, I don’t know if it’s simply tightening the nut or something else. Would anyone know approximately how many pounds of torque would be needed to tighten that nut? Thanks advance!

View the latest post Previously owned orphan boats

How many Carver owners here, past or present have owned a Trojan yacht in their boating lives, like the F models etc, even the woodies before that.....I mean the Trojans up to the bankruptcy, not the more recent Carver Trojan models.....
