View the latest post waste tank 1998 405

- Forum: AC/Heat, Plumbing & Sanitation
I own a 1998 405 Carver aft cabin. It has a waste smell coming from the front holding tank area. I have replaced all the lines and also pressure tested the tank and there are no leaks. As far as i can tell the odour is permeating from the tank. Has anyone heard of this happening?
Also, does anyone have experience replaceing one of these tanks. There does not seem to be enough room to remove it. It is under the dinette seating on the port side.
Thanks

View the latest post Changing holding tank in 36 Mariner

- Forum: Carver Yachts Forum - Model Discussion
Greetings all. Taking possession of '06 Mariner 36 next week. After looking at several different Carver models, we decided on the Mariner. The main thing we didn't like was the 20 gallon holding tank. The newer Mariner models have a 31 gallon tank, so obviously this was an issue or complaint with previous owners. I'm wondering if it's possible to replace the 20 gallon tank with the larger 31? Just trying to reduce the amount of trips I have to make to the busiest marina on the lake. Appreciate suggestions. Thanks!

Greetings all. Due to take possession of our 2006 36 Mariner next week. We're going from a 32' express cruiser, which has been a great boat for us, to the 36 Mariner. Carvers all over our dock and our lake and I have always been envious. We're excited to move up and can't wait to get boating. BTW, Table Rock Lake near Branson Missouri.

Good Morning All,
So my Carver is coming home to my yard so I can finish the restoration. I think I should have no problems with the engines. Really it is as easy as running pink antifreeze through them and fogging the carb and cylinders. The water and sewer system is a little different.
I already had the sewage tank diluted many times and pumped out. There is maybe 1"-2" in the tank under the toilet. Do I pump that out or dump a few gallons of pink antifreeze in there? What should I do with the lower tank? Leave it alone or pump a few gallons of pink antifreeze to it?
The water system...I think I finally found the tank! Yay! Just pop a hose off and let it drain to the hull and out the bottom? Then add pink antifreeze and pump it through the system?
Any help would be great. I am also covering it myself with tarps. It should be fun!
Thanks,
Steve

I have just bought a new FF chart plotter combo for my 404. Does anyone know the best way to run the cable from the engine room to the helm? There must be a duct or conduit for such a run.
Thanks,

I have a carver 404, the swim platform is getting a little spongy. I assume I have some water ingress and it needs to be recored. What is involved and how much should it cost? WHat is the best way to do it? Are replacement platforms available?
Thanks,

- Forum: Introduce Yourself!
I'm a 1996 Carver 440 AC owner since 2007, based since purchase at Marker 1 Marina in Dunedin, Florida. Over the last six years I've learned a lot about maintaining / repairing / cursing the myriad issues that are part and parcel of owning a larger vessel. I showed up to my "new" boat toting barely more than a screwdriver and pocketknife, and zero spares; I now possess a relative arsenal of tools and parts that might impress a US Navy Chief.
One thing that's always royally bugged your fellow bilge dweller about this experience is the seemingly endless, time-consuming process of procuring replacement parts and supplies for this beast. I have all the search technology. I know how to use it fairly well, I believe. Is it just because it's a Carver 440? Because it's MY 440?! Or is it just because it floats? The Carver Yachts website is of no help. Dealers don't seem too interested unless you're a recent customer of theirs. Mechanics have been a source of info, but generally only for commonly used replacements that they are going to sell you at full retail anyway. Marina scuttlebutt has been even less fruitful.
If any of my fellow owner/operators out there are keen on stopping the whining, could you help me out by passing along some of your "favorite" websites / online sellers / local (or even distant) marine retailers who can help me out when I'm looking for OEM or even "substitute" OEM parts or supplies? And, remember, "WORST" Marine does not count.
Thanks, folks. Safe and happy cruising to all.

My wife and I just picked up our first Carver. 1989 32 Montego, and absolute beauty. We are looking forward to many adventures with her in the San Juans in the coming years.
