View the latest post cabin door lock - Carver 350 Mariner

Hi - I'm brand new to the forum and hope I'm in the right place for my question. I have a 2002 Carver 350 Mariner and recently the lock to the cabin door (sliding glass door) gave up the ghost. The key turns easily, but the lock mechanism is no longer moving/closing. Has anyone else ever had this issue and, if so, who could I call that could possibly repair it? I tried a locksmith and he said since the lock body is inside the channel of the sliding door, he wouldn't be able to repair it. Should I call a sliding glass door company or does anyone have other suggestions? Thanks in advance!

View the latest post AC - Adding a relay to feed the AC water pump - Alarm

Hello everyone, just made it to Mobile AL this week in my Carver from Chattanooga TN. Great trip!

Looking for info on a relay to use (in front / Galley bilge) to close / open the 120V 10Amp circuit that feeds my AC water cooling pump. A 12V powered relay, allowing a 120 V 10-amp circuit to be started and stopped by the relay.

Why am I doing this?
1) I leave my AC on in the boat - It is Hot down here.
2) I am in brackish / salt water now so corrosion could create a leak in that system
3) My Victron Cerbo GX has a relay switch that can throw on alarm open/close.
4) I also monitor for high water in the bilge that alarms

The thought is if the high water alarm goes into alarm mode, The Cerbo deenergizes the N/O relay thus disconnecting the AC 120V power to the AC pump. If the pump is filling the boat, this will stop that from continually filling the boat with water. If it is leaking in the boat. Both AC's will go off but, at least the water will not continually fill the boat.

Side note: many of my videos from the trip are up on YouTube

View the latest post Water Inlet/Regulator Replacement

I need to replace the water inlet, but unfortunately the replacement is slightly larger than the previous one. Jabsco for some reason decided to replace the old style which needed about a 3 1/8" hole with one that's about 3 1/2". I have a couple of questions I'm hoping I can get some feedback on:

- I was thinking about using this method to drill a larger hole: https://youtu.be/vOUfFaIJUqo?si=wP9k6RR7aC-3mwpc. The transom where the inlet is has fiberglass which is about 1/2" thick. Will this method be okay to enlarge the hole?

- Will I need a diamond or carbide tipped drill bit, or will a bi-metal one work okay on the fiberglass? https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-3-1-2-in-Hole-Dozer-Hole-Saw-49-56-9641/202327759

- Regarding the plumbing part of this, is it okay to attach the inlet to any cold-water pipe? It appears the inlet pipe had broken off and was capped off somewhere, so I'm not 100% sure where it originally was fed into the system. I'm thinking it was attached to near where the cold water faucet is on the aft shower.

Thanks for any input! Boat is a 1995 440 aft cabin.

View the latest post Airlock ionizer

Hello everyone, just wondering if anyone used the product Airlock ionizer to keep their boats smelling fresh and clean? Keep seeing their ads and read the reviews. Seems very impressive, hoping to get firsthand knowledge.
Thanks

View the latest post VP 8.1 oil pan leak

My 04 366 strbrd engine developed a small leak. Marina says it’s the oil pan but not enough room to change it out with out pulling the engine which they also don’t think they can do. I asked if they can just lift the engine up enough to change the gasket without fully pulling the engine. They said they’d have to build something to do that. Anyone run into this issue yet? Any suggestions? And yes, I’m seriously considering just putting pads down and checking levels at every start up but I’d prefer to deal with it properly if at all practical.

Spent our 1st weekend on it and couldn't be happier, had plenty of space and everything we needed for my wife and I . Will be getting to know all of you and pick a few brains on the way.

View the latest post Bottom paint goopy.

Doing some minor touch up. Paint is Interlux Bottomkote. The paint I have is goopy & thick, so I assume it is getting bad. Will not thin out when stirring. Can I just add some Interlux 202 thinner to it to bring it back? Just doing small areas to touch up where lift straps scraped away. Thanks in advance. 8-) er

View the latest post New owner here

Just finished up the purchase of a 1999 406 Aft Cabin. Going to get it hauled out on Monday to get bottom paint and send the props to get balanced. Have a list of a few things to get done but nothing major. Pretty clean boat for 26 years old. Lots of great information on this site. Glad I got the Carver!
