Looked many places to no avail. Second hand boat supply stores also.
The small sliver vent cap popped off..rubbing against a fender.

Hello all! I have had a good season with the boat and took it for one last ride during the week. On the way back from the restaurant the port engine overheated. Upon returning and inspecting I found both plastic manifold elbow/drains had blown out. I scraped out the remaining plastic threads and installed new elbows. I noticed when I went to fill the cooling system the cap was loose and the brass housing was bent. A lot of pressure built up for sure. The filler cap housing is round on one side for the hose, then the cap in the center, then a flat square surface with four bolts. I need to know where to source this part! Also, how much coolant should the boat take, and yes I need to find out why it over heated, and it does it really fast when it does.. maybe head gasket, maybe a stuck thermostat..that engine had been getting harder to start possibly unrelated. what causes those elbows to both blow out of the manifolds, they probably melted from the heat first. Need some help. Put a new 8.1 engine in my boat. We have replaced about every sensor and it still does not run right. We are thinking they sent us a 420hp engine instead of a 375hp. I know its a long shot but does anyone have a 8.1 420hp ECU I could borrow to throw on this engine to test it? Located in NC.

My boat will be in the water this winter in Pittsburgh. It has twin V8 Mercruiser engines. There will be power to the boat.

I am looking for advice about the batteries. Do I remove them, leave them in the boat with the battery chargers on, leave them in but disconnected or some other option?

The boat was re-powered in '93 with 3116 Cat engines. The batteries are located at the front and outside of the engine compartment, right under the exhaust pipes. Starboard engine I would have to remove the huge exhaust pipe to get them out plus there is no way to check water level. Port engine batteries I may be able remove with the exhaust system in place, but again, no way to check water (electrolyte) level.
Anyone with a diesel Santero, where are the batteries located?
