View the latest post Attachment(s) Sagging Fridge Door
- Posted by: ColinC » August 25th, 2023, 12:07 am
- Forum: AC/Heat, Plumbing & Sanitation
I have a Norcold and the freezer door sagged and needed a slight nudge to make sure it closed properly. Occasionally it would open slightly, unnoticed, if the bottom main door was closed quickly.
I searched for solutions and most advice was to install washers on the hinge bolts to raise the door. In my opinion, this just raises a sagging door. The door still droops on the opening edge, it's just higher.
Instead I placed a spacer on the upper hinge mounting bracket at the inside bolt hole, NOT on the hinge pin. This had the effect of pulling the upper hinge left, raising the drooping door to a perfect horizontal. I didn't have proper washers handy but a small brass nut has proved the concept perfectly. The freezer door closes perfectly now. I just need to replace the temporary nut with a couple of small washers.

View the latest post 3608 Fuel Gauge Not Reading
- Posted by: Seaplane Steve » August 24th, 2023, 3:45 pm
- Forum: Electrical
The fuel quantity will not register when the switch is pressed for one tank on our lower helm. Both gauges work fine on the upper helm. I looked under the panel and do not see any missing wires. I have not been able to find a wiring diagram for the circuit. We do not use the lower helm, but it bugs me that it does not work.
Any trouble shooting suggestions?

I took this off of a 2006 Carver 33 SS and rebuilt it. Sold the boat in 2020 and have had it sitting in conditioned space since. I tried the pump two days ago, and it pumps water with no leaks. The connectors are also with the pump. I was going to throw away, but decided to see if anyone here could use it. Will let it go for what it costs to ship to you. Part is in East Tennessee. If you want it PM me.

These are available at Walmart for $3.48 CAD. Knee pads in the gardening section. Made of closed cell foam so they will not take on water. Compact and easy to store. Used a ball bungee to attach to the handles of the dinghy. Can't go wrong for the price.

I want to switch to LED bulbs. My current bulbs are horizonal in the fixture and so must be short enough to fit. Can anyone suggest the correct bulb with the two pin insertion?

Good morning
I am new and I have just bought a 1993 Carver 370 Voyager.
I would like to change the fridges which are double doors side by side.
After several searches on the internet I can't find a manufacturer who offers a fridge in the size of the caver 370. Does anyone have a manufacturer's name or someone in the same situation as me?

View the latest post Can't open sliding windows in Salon - 1987 Santego 3067
- Posted by: theorifice » August 22nd, 2023, 4:15 pm

I'm unable to get the sliding salon windows open at the moment, I've put a bit of effort into cleaning the tracks that the window rides on but I'm only able to open the window ~1". The window "lock" is in the open position.
I'm happy to go whole hog and scrape whatever is on the track but want to check if there is something else I'm missing. From what I can see, there is a small brush strip and some sort of rubber on the track.
Should the windows be easy to slide open and close and the tracks require cleaning or is there some other mechanism that I need to account f or
Apologies for lack of picture.

Hello all,
I have a 1997 405 with 7.4 xli and I would like to update all the dash gauges. Are there any gauges available that are basically plug and play without changing out sending units or wiring connectors and fit the existing holes in the dash? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Tim

View the latest post Pulling wires through transom 405 Aft Cabin
- Posted by: Mikwallace » August 20th, 2023, 5:18 pm
- Forum: The Project Center
I’m researching several winter projects some of which require drilling holes through transom and running wires. If I do them I’ll make separate threads for each. Projects in mind are:
- Trim Tab Indication at Helm. Currently have Bennett Hydraulic (OEM I guess) Tabs but there’s no indicators at the helm and I just have to guess their position. I’ve researched and know the parts to get.
- Possibly stern thruster. Again, I’ve found the product and parts list.
- Under water lights. Still researching the parts. Recommendations solicited!
- RV100 Transducer that came with my Chartplotter. I have read and will do more research that a transom mounted transducer is ineffective due to Propwash? I don’t fish but since I have the equipment it would be cool to view the 3d products. Any input from you guys would be appreciated. I’ve also read at low speeds the transom mounted transducer is OK? Other articles I’ve read say put a thru hull RV200 in front of the props for full benefit.
ALL of the above modifications require drilling through the transom to run the wires. I’ve done this before on other boats I’ve owned without issue and feel comfortable doing so. However; with this 1998 405 Aft Cabin it appears to be virtually impossible to maneuver the wires through the transom to the area under the Aft Cabin bed area in order to send them to the appropriate location. It looks like the Aft Fuel tank blocks all viewing and access of the transom?
Is there a trade secret to maneuvering that area? My plan is DIY this winter when I pull the boat for inspecting below waterline.
Thanks in advance!
