View the latest post 466 AC control panel location.

I have a model year 2006, 466 motor yacht with the external ac units (one over the wet bar, one under the dash) My question: where is the control panel for the under dash unit? The control panel for the unit over the wet bar is in plain site. I have looked all over the bridge and cannot find a control panel for the under dash unit. And yes the ac unit is under the dash!

View the latest post Carver 440

I am looking at a 1995 carver 440 with 3116 cats. What to look out for? What are cruising speeds and fuel consumption?
Pricing? Four of the for sale just around lake Michigan alone. I think found 10 for sale on this side of the Mississippi including 445s.
Any information helps.

View the latest post 1993 Carver 280 Express prop selection

Hi. I am a long time boat owner of small runabouts and this is my first large heavier boat. The boat has a 7.4 with a Bravo 2.

During my pre-purchase water test i discovered it would only rev to 3500 rpm and about 21mph. The owner said that the boat never ran more than 21mph. He actually had a long block installed about 30 hours ago and confirmed the new engine had a WOT of only 3500 rpm just like the original one.

I found the prop was bent/damaged so hauled it out yesterday and installed a new 18.3 x 19p.
I didnt know what prop size was on the boat until yesterday when i discovered the damaged prop was a 17 3/4 x 21p.

With new 19p prop installed, I ran it again and was able to achieve 4000 rpm. I believe the boat is overpropped and I should put a 17p which, as I understand, should give me ~400 more rpm. This would get the boat in the 4200-4600 operating range.

Does anyone have a 280 (or earlier models 2557 Montego/528 Montego) , with a 7.4 Bravo 2, that could share what diameter and pitch prop they run along with tops speed at WOT?

The boat definitely will rev to 4600 while not under load.
It just seems like the 21p i took off was way to high of a pitch for such a large boat but maybe not.

The prior owner does not know much about boats and had no idea 3500 at WOT was not normal. I knew something was wrong immediately when we got on plane.

Last, I'll add the timing was checked yesterday and it's set at 8° BTDC and verified the secondary butterflies are opening at WOT.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
Mark

View the latest post Volvo BP1200 thruster problem

Last year I purchased a 2002 570 Voyager. It is equipped with a Volvo QL BP1200 24V bow thruster. Both of the switches were bad, so I was able to construct new switches for them using toggle rockers. That worked well and the thruster functioned properly last summer. The boat is on Lake Michigan in Wisconsin, so we hauled it out last October for winter storage. On the day of the haulout the thruster would not function properly. It worked well in the port direction, but would not power up at all in the starboard direction. I figured this was just a simple electrical issue due to a wire coming loose from one of my remade switch panels, but I had the mechanics check it out at my storage yard. I inquired last week as to what they found, and they tell me that they believe the motor has gone bad. As that unit is no longer in production they are uncertain whether it can be repaired/rebuilt or needs to be replaced with an entirely new thruster. I am pretty handy, so I intend to check it out myself when the weather warms up enough prior to committing to anything, but I would appreciate any advice from anyone else who has had to either repair or replace that model. I am a bit skeptical of the diagnosis, as it does not entirely make sense to me why it would function in one direction but not the other if it was due to a motor failure, but it is old so anything is possible. I have been looking at options if it does need replacement, and it appears that imtra side thruster may be a good option, looks like both the 130 kg and 170 kg models would fit in the same tube. The main dilemma I see though is that I am not sure that either of those units would fit in the same compartment. The volvo unit appears to have a right angle at the end of the shaft before it enters the tube, so my unit is installed on its side, entering the tube on the top. The imtra unit appears to be entirely vertical, so if this was installed in the same hole it would have to stand upright and would probably not fit. I clearly have to get back on the boat myself and further inspect it, but I would appreciate any thoughts from anyone else with experience in this matter.

View the latest post Remove microwave from 2018 Carver C40

Does anyone know where the screws may be to remove the convection/microwave on this model boat? I've looked behind the master toilet pulled off the panel and can see the shelf but cannot find the screws. I cannot see them putting the trim on over the screws.

View the latest post Westerbeke gas generator

Hi Fellas,
I’m having some trouble with my 5kw Westerbeke gas generator. The engine itself seems fine, but when I try putting load on the generator, it dies. I’ve been trying to adjust the electronic governor, but now the speed adjustment doesn’t seem to be doing anything no matter which way I turn the screw. The generator only has 830 hours on it, but I’m thinking that I should replace the electronic governor.
Westerbeke has been awesome with advice, sent me a bunch of diagnostic tests, but nothing has helped so far.
Has anyone had any such problems with your Westebeke generators?
Thanks for any help as always

View the latest post Excessive water in fuel

Carver 38 SS - Primary fuel filter displayed algae in the sight glass. We engage a guy to conduct fuel polishing, removed 10 Litres of water from the starboard fuel tank. Started engine and run for 30 minutes, and saw signs of water in the filter sight glass.
I believe the intake incorporates a cooling chamber to retain excess fuel and return to the tank.
Right now we are trying to determine the root cause of the level of water in the fuel tank. Any assistance will be much appreciated.

View the latest post 325 Electrical Questions

Hello friends!

The two deck lights on either side of the sliding glass door are inop. They needed replacing anyway so I upgraded the fixture but there is no power. Does anyone know where the switch is to turn them on? I’ve tried every switch on the boat!

Also, at the helm, below the transmission shifts, sits a white and chrome round knob, like a dimmer switch. It doesn’t look factory to me and I have no clue what it was used for (the knob is fused and won’t rotate). I’ll dig into it this weekend but any clues?

Thanks!!
