View the latest post New to Me - 1989 3467 Santego

Hiya Captains,
My wife and I decided on one more boat before we give it up after 30+ years. Found a “Fresh/Brackish” 1989 3467 Santego on the Hudson River. Love the boat, love the layout. Might need a few tips on finding some NOS stuff to refurbish the incidentals. Any helpful tips or design flaw fixes will be greatly appreciated. We’re on the mid/lower Chesapeake Bay, so if your in the area give a shout out.
Captain Greg

View the latest post How about this....

On a recent post, one of the members, Laserbait, told us that he is new to boating and his FIRST boat is a 36.
I found this to be most impressive and quite manly (one might say ballsey).
It will be interesting for you to share your evolution from first boat til now, in size, style, etc. This should be fun and I volunteer to go first.
#1. 8 ft sailing dingy. Boy did the admiral and I feel cool traipsing east to west off of our beach way back when.
#2 1961 Chris Craft Seaskiff. This was a 23 foot wooden lapstrake beauty. I purchased her from a fanatic and she looked great and ran like a charm. However, while going for a ride with my 5 year old I got a little too close to the Centre Island Reef and ....... (Terrible and memorable event, fortunately in safe waters. Guess the lesson I learned THAT season!))
#3 1965 Pearson 28 cabin cruiser. Built like a brick shat house. I had the original sales brochure which touted the benefits of 'space age' fiberglass. "No longer do you have to leave your boat in the water to swell up before using".
Very heavy single engine and safe workhorse. (They were not sure of the properties of fiberglass and overbuilt her) However, she did look 'old' and when I finally got a spot at the village dock (12 yr wait), the kids insisted that I upgrade because they were embarrassed by the looks.
#4 1989 Wellcraft Gran Sport. This 34 footer was my first experience with twin engines. She was a sharp looking
and reliable. Sold her with about 2100 hrs on gas engines. Never a problem.
#5 2005 Carver 36 Mariner. This is my 'if not now, when?' purchase. Loving the accomodations and long distance cruising.
How about you???

I just finished up replacing V birth fabric with vinyl. I had a leaking port side port light that caused some staining on the fabric so, I did a update and here the results.

View the latest post Dometic???

Have to replace the original 16,000 BTU unit on the bridge of our 455. The A/C guy I have used keeps telling me the Dometic replacement is $3,800, but I can find it on the internet for $1,800 and change. I told him that, but he insists that is not Dometic, but a Chinese knockoff. I keep looking at the internet, on Yachtaid.com, and they say it's Dometic! Anyone have experience with this? Also, I'm pretty handy mechanically - can I replace this myself? Thanks! - JB
