Been up shopping for hours and every time I get ready to pull the trigger on a purchase, I do a quick google search to review the company. It seems that no matter the company the most recent reviews are not so great. Maybe related to the mess of the last two years - maybe other factors. Either way, the last thing I want to worry about is whether my parts order is going to make it to me in one piece and I'll actually get what I ordered!
What I am looking for tonight are Racor filters (2040N or 2040V in 10 or 30 micron) and two Racor RK19671 vacuum gauges.
Anyone RECENTLY used Defender.com? Prices seem reasonable and they have what I want, but the recent reviews were terrible.
Amazon has the parts for a little more but doesn't specify if the filters come with o-rings.
Same thing at Racorstore.com - products decently priced but bad recent reviews. Plus they also don't specify if the filters come with o-rings.
I'm not looking to buy at the cheapest price - just a decent place to buy from that I can trust. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Calling all Vacuflush experts!
Today on the last day or our one week cruise the Vacuflush system started making a 'banging' sound when the vacuum pump is working. Way out of the normal flushing sound.
I called Dometic technical support who suggested that it could be a quick fix and they referred me to the local distributor. He suggested that it can be any number of things and referred me to a service guy he uses. I placed a call and don't expect to her back any time soon.
There is no leaking. The unit creates a vacuum. However, the banging is not a good thing.
The distributor told me that I should not run the flush in the current state.
All thought and suggestions are welcomed.

Issue: AC thru-hull valve seemly only opens part way. Seems to shut off, just not open fully???. With both AC units on, one goes into high head pessure I think. Believe isue is not enough water flow to support both AC units.
Any options with handle (solid pulls does not budge it more than about 1/2 way to tab)
Can anything be done bottom side in the water? (help to open or validate amount of open)
To replace this thru-hull can it be done in the water or does it require haul out?
Any and all suggestions welcomed

Ok, I’ve searched the topic above with no hits. The cruiser lifestyle is new to us and we’ll do the Survey/Sea trial next week on a 1998 405 Aft Cabin; 7.4 Horizon engines; 10 kw Kohler Generator. I’ve owned smaller boats most of my life, but none with onboard generator. I’ve also read hours and hours on this forum about the various systems. I feel I have avg/above avg mechanical knowledge and comprehend what I’ve read. I’ve also read many threads on this forum about the electrical systems and the newer ABYC/NEC codes and their issues with older boat electrical systems. I’m extremely anxious to get going with our new-to-us boat and all it has to offer over our previous boating experiences.
Other than the water sports (skiing, knee board, wakeboard), One of the experiences we really enjoyed was to drop the anchor, open the ice chest, bring out the snacks, crank up the tunes (not so loud to annoy nearby boaters), and swim/relax in the water. Since at our age we have concluded, that water sports are a thing of the past and leave those activities to the kids and grands.
So here’s the question. What’s the best policy for swimming while at anchor with the generator running?
I’ve seen boaters doing this in fresh and saltwater, but the thought really never crossed my mind. I completely understand the “No Swimming Allowed” in marinas.
What are your thoughts?
What’s your policy as the Captain?
Where does the Genny exhaust come out on the 405/406 Aft Cabin?
Is there an electrical hazard similar to the swimming in the marina issue?
There’s obviously a load of knowledge on this forum and I’m soaking it all in! Trying to stay ahead of the “Learning Curve”!
EDIT: And then this popped up in a Google Search: https://newcontent.westmarine.com/conte ... lar_86.pdf

I have no more need for this unit. Was installed inside the cabin so it is in perfect condition. Comes in original packaging with everything except the manual which is available on line.
Why am I selling? With the Lithium house bank upgrade I elected to install quite a few Victron Energy brand items and since I wanted everything to talk together I ordered their bluetooth smart shunt.
Asking $175 US or $220 CAD. Ideally Paypal. Pretty good deal as they go for almost $300 US. Shipping included.
They seem to be rather rare as most places show BO.

I have a 1989 Carver with Crusader 454 7.4 engines. The oil pressure gauge on one engine is not working. My first thought was the pressure sender, replaced that - did not fix it. It has dual stations, so I am pretty confident both gauges are not broken. Not sure what my next step might be.

I'm about to be an owner of a 1988 Santego 30. Super stoked to have a boat to enjoy in the city! Also excited to have another thing to wrench on (in addition to cars and bicycles).
Looks like it's a bit difficult to come by documentation. I've found the doc thread and PMed so far which seems to be a huge boon to the community here.
I'll get some pics uploaded asap.

Is anyone here using the new Ray 53,63 or 73 VHF radios? They are spendy and can't find one to look at to integrate with Axiom 9. Others would be Standard Horizon GX1800GW or Garmin 115. Like the Standard just wanted to go with plotter and radio from the same company. I will add an external speaker as well.

I have a 7.4 mercruiser in my Carver 280. It's been leaking power steering fluid (A LOT) and I can't seem to find where it's coming from. Saw some videos on that make me think it might be the fluid heat exchanger/cooler but wondering if anyone had a recommendation on where to look? That cooler unit is pretty buried under the engine...
