View the latest post Attachment(s) THE annual event

The only thing different this year than last is the aches and pains are worse. #m Perfectit wax, and it took well. 1994 390, and at 30 years old still shines nicely!

View the latest post Attachment(s) Replacing Head Fan - removing dual drawer slide

Our head fan failed last year. It shorts out and trips the breaker. I think access wise, the head fan is behind this drawer. I can't see another way to access the area where the head fan exhaust is.

Normal drawer tabs would have a release. I guess there would be some here too. Any tricks to getting the drawers to release with the limited access?

Are there other ways to replace the head fan? What have people used as replacement?

Thanks

View the latest post Attachment(s) Mounting new Fireboy 375 CU FT fire suppression system

It was time to replace the original Halon horizontal Fireboy in the engine room on my 1994 390CPMY. However, no more halon, so it is some FK-5-1-12. It is longer and heavier, so there is no way it will fit against the forward bulkhead horizontally. It does say mouth vertically anyway. I have room in front to the port engine (454 Gas) that will allow it to go vertically. However, it would need to go into the outer stringer. I know they are all fiberglass. I was thinking of a 3/4” PT plywood, with 5200 behind it to anchor it against the stringer. It would be mounted right where the documentation number plate is in photo 2. Then use lag bolts to go through the plywood and stringer. Thoughts? Advice?

View the latest post Attachment(s) 396 Motor Yacht

Hello everyone,

My wife and I are looking at a 2000 Carver 396 Motor Yacht. 1400 hrs on the engine and just short of 3000 on the generator. Anything specific we should look out for or take extra care looking at before we make an offer?

TIA,
Greg

View the latest post Attachment(s) Warning Light Panel Source?

Last Summer we boated 1 hour to dinner then docked with GenSet running. 1.5 hours at dinner then were returning home when some dash warning lights came on for the stbd engine. These indicators were 5 graphic lights depicting engine overheat and other scary things. The digital gauge readout was normal but I still had to check the engine room. All seemed normal there too. I restarted both engines and the lights did not turn on again or since. MY QUESTION: What system controls these warning lights? Engine sensors only? Engine Transmission Controller?
My thoughts are since the warning lights reset immediately, it must be an electronic controller, but no manual shows these displays.

View the latest post Attachment(s) Can anyone tell me what make /model anchor light?

I have a '92 Carver 33 Aft Cabin. When taking the bimini off to get it replaced I trashed the anchor mast light. Can anyone tell me what make or model it may be. The round base is about 2.5"[image]

View the latest post Handling qualities of the 325/326 short aft cabin models

Considering a 2000 326. Have read some less-than-flattering reports about it being top-heavy and unstable. I've read reports of considerable bobbing motions, even at dock/anchor. I realize these boats are floating condos, but is the stability really this bad? Carver sure seems to have sold many of this design over the years for the handling to be so terrible.
