View the latest post Attachment(s) Carver 355 Port Side Bunk bed in forward stateroom
- Posted by: tsclarke33 » December 8th, 2018, 6:47 pm
- Forum: The Project Center
I am looking at several Carver boats for sale and a few of the Carver 355/356's have an extra bunk in the forward state room. It is on the port side and it is above the level of the standard full size bed (see pic). Does anyone know if this is an after market item that could be possibly purchased, an option that was added when new, or a custom build that someone put in? Thanks for any insight!

View the latest post At my wit’s end! Carver 390 CPMY outside outlet dead!
- Posted by: boatingbob » December 7th, 2018, 5:28 pm
- Forum: Electrical
Hi Guys!
Hope you can help: I have a 1994 Carver 390 CPMY. It’s Christmastime, and I have lights up on my boat. I’d like to simply plug them into the outside outlet that’s on the sun deck (port side, just to the left of the sliding companionway door), but the outlet is dead. It’s pretty badly corroded from rainwater intrusion that got in around the weathertight cover, but when I removed the outlet and tested the wire for power to the outlet - nothing!
All other outlets on the boat are working fine, so it doesn’t appear to be a tripped breaker on the 120v panel or one of the GFCI outlets having tripped. I cut off the old spade terminals and stripped 1/4” of new conductor off the 3 wires (white/black/green), and they look fine.
I can’t believe the wire itself is bad, but if it isn’t a breaker or a GFCI, what can it be? I had assumed this particular outlet was on the same circuit as all the outlets on the port side, and wired in series downstream of the 120v outlet on the port side of the master stateroom, but when I pulled the cover of that outlet to look in the back, I saw there was just one cable going into it.
I have attempted tracing the exterior outlet cable, but I lost it when it appears to drop into the engine bay and gets lost among all the other cables.
The wiring diagram in the Carver owners manual is very general, and doesn’t show the schematic of the individual outlets.
So help! Can anyone shed some light on this? It’s kind of a pain in the ass to run an extension cord into the cabin to run my Xmas lights. I’d really like to get my outside outlet working again.
Thanks!

View the latest post Attachment(s) Carver 506 A/C Water pump replacement

- Forum: AC/Heat, Plumbing & Sanitation
Hi all,
I've had a main water pump go down that supplies water for 4 A/C units on my boat.
I found a replacement at Grainger for the Dayton 9MWR7 motor portion of the pump assy but now I need to find a new impeller and shaft seals for the pump portion. There is no OEM info on the pump castings.
Has anyone had to replace these yet on their boat ?
Thanks !
Jim

Hi everyone. What a neat forum; I’ve learned quite a bit already by reading a lot of posts. My wife and I are looking for our 1st “big boat”. We’ve had a number of runabouts and fishing boats over the years and would like to try something that we can do longer trips with. We live very close to the Saint Lawrence river, and spend a lot of time on it during our brief northern NY summers. A couple models that we like the look of are the 325 and 3207. We would be cruising the river and Canadian canals. Most of the time it would probably be the 2 of us with our 2 teenagers tagging along on occasion. I think one of these boats would be a good entry point for us, and allow us to figure out how much we really like it before before spending 100k +. Does anyone here own one of these models? Can you tell me what you like, or don’t like about them? Also how does one get a boat surveyed in the winter? Do you just wait for spring? Thanks in advance.

I am installing a new Hurley h20 daivt on my Carver Santego 380 next week. Was looking for to see if anyone has done this before and if so, looking to find out if the swim platform is hollow and what type of stainless hardware was used for mounting.

Good day to you all. Patrick from Ontario and recently put a deposit down on a 1983 Carver Riviera and was hoping to get some insight on what to look for. The boat is in very good condition with very low hours for its age (460). Right now it is in storage for the winter and the plan is to do the water test in May. I am coming from the sailing community but with three children under 8 my wife and I decided a powerboat might be better for us at this point
She is equipped with 220 crusaders, hot water tank (recently replaced), no generator, and basically bone stock otherwise with the exception of a new Standard Horizon chart plotter.
Are there any specific systems I should really go over? Any weak points on this boat that need closer scrutiny?
Appreciate the help and look forward to hearing from you.

Here’s a weird question. My radar doesn’t transmit for whatever reason and we are currently in an uncovered slip. If or when we get a covered one, I’m afraid the radar or anchor light makes the boat too tall. Either way I eventually need to take the radar off. The aft deck has a fiberglass cover. How do I get up there and can I put any weight on the cover?

View the latest post Diesel vs propane heat in a ‘85 3227 Convertible?
- Posted by: ZenTodd » November 24th, 2018, 6:38 pm

Hello- what do you guys and girls think?
Diesel forced air furnace or Dickinson propane Newport?
Diesel would probably be an easier instal but would require a separate diesel tank and filling solution.
The Newport needs a chimney and a custom mount created as I have no real bulkhead to put it against (the only place I can mount the Newport would be forward of the couch above the refrigerator on the wood cabinet. I outdone fab a SS horizontally mounted bulkhead). However I really like the fire place feel.
Has anyone ever done either on the 3227?
Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone,
New to this board but I’ve owned my Carver for a few years. Finally, I have decided to keep it for a couple more seasons and I’m looking for advice on certain upgrades and modifications.
I live in the Pacific North West with my wife and two crazy boys, ages 8 and 6.
Eventually, we are looking to sail but for the time being we are going to enjoy motor yachting.
Happy holidays!
