View the latest post 405 bow plowing
- Posted by: sailtosteam » October 26th, 2019, 6:10 pm
- Forum: Carver Yachts Forum - Model Discussion
Hi folks,
I have. 97 Carver 405 that rides low in the bow. It plows. I have tried various rpm’s, from 1200 to 2000, and I’m told the bow is way down. The spray is nearly up to the gunnels. I,ve also been having issues with water coming into the fwd bilge. Over 6 gallons during a 6-7 hr cruise. Related? I did discover a leak in the fwd A/C condensate line to the shower sump. Hopefully I fixed that. We’ll see tomorrow.
We checked the trim tabs and have them turned up as high as they will go. I’ll adjust them up before we leave in the morning in case they drift down.
The boat has 6BTA5.9 Cummins.
Thoughts? Suggestions?
Thanks for your help.
Jim

Hello all,
Just picked up my Santa Cruz Carver today. 28’ long, 10’ beam, 7.3 Diesel engine, single screw. Boat is mechanically sound and needs some cosmetic work. Other than that, it’s just some touching up. Any recommendations that I should work on first? Also, where is the best site to purchase items or accessories specific for Carver rather than “universal”?

View the latest post Attachment(s) 396 Aft waste tank hose access
- Posted by: thatchh » October 24th, 2019, 1:08 pm
- Forum: AC/Heat, Plumbing & Sanitation
Hello All,
I am preparing to change all the hoses to the aft waste system in my 2004 396. Two of the long hoses in the system (toilet to vacuum pump, and pumpout line) connect to PVC pipes way down in the bilge. About the only way I can see to access those fittings is to remove the port muffler. Anyone have any tricks or suggestions to avoid that big job? If I remove the cabinet next to the bed, would that give me some access?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Hello looking for some help! I’m looking for the window seal for my 1992 330 aft cabin. It’s the aft cabin escape window, it was manufactured by Taylor. I have contacted carver and Taylor no luck with them. I would like to get a replacement seal if possible or a replacement window the dimensions are 271/2 wide by 161/2 tall that is the outside dimensions. I have added some photos for a better understanding of what I need.

I am having an estimate done from a person to do the buff/wax job on my Mariner. Her quote will be done Friday. What do you all think would be a reasonable expense? She does a 2 or 3 step process, compounding/wax, and I have seen some boats she did. They look really nice, but they are a different brand. I usually have a pro job done every other year, and do off years myself with a one step cleaner/wax. Any input? What do you pay on the 32 -33 foot range? Thanks for the input!

View the latest post Potable Water Hose
- Posted by: Midnightsun » October 22nd, 2019, 6:15 am
- Forum: General Boating Discussion
This has always been a pita to say the least. In my case the hose is permanently connected to city water which gets detached from the boat and left at the dock when out cruising. I always shut the valve off when leaving the boat for the week other wise it is always on when we are at the boat or even away for a few hours running errands. that being said these cheap "RV/Marine" hoses tend to swell to the point of looking like they will explode. So I searched to find the best alternative.
I should mention it is highly recommended to install a pressure regulator at your spigot on the pedestal as many marinas do not have one. The pressures are rather high sometimes which puts unnecessary strain and creates swelling of the hose. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07X4B88RF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Came across an American company by the name of Eley. The hose is definitely much better quality than anything out there in a "Drinking water Safe" type. More expensive but as with most things you get what you pay for. Just thought I would share my findings. https://www.eleyhosereels.com/collections/garden-hoses
Not sure I want to use this as my travel hose as it may not be pliable enough for my taste. I have 2, 25' 5/8" Zero-G hoses for travel which I can screw together for those long connections if required. Works very well. https://www.lowes.ca/product/garden-hos ... e3EALw_wcB

View the latest post Gas fumes in my boat make it unusable Help!
- Posted by: PDXCarver1 » October 21st, 2019, 3:56 am
- Forum: General Repairs & Maintenance
All of a sudden the gas fumes on my boat have become extremely noticable and unbearable and a serious fire hazard.
It currently has maybe 10 gallons in each tank and I believe the problem is coming from my fuel filler hoses and vent hoses based upon what I have read in thusforum and others.
I've also been told that changing them out is a fairly easy task that can be done myself.
Does anyone know if there are any step by step DIY directions or videos of photographs showing this being done or can anyone give me an idea of where to order these hoses and how to start and any sage advice they have accumulated along the way
Thanks in advance for your help
