View the latest post 355 Aft Cabin Swim Ladder

Hello! Has anyone attempted to replace the swim ladder on the 355 aft cabin? The ladder isn’t that great and we have small children so we are looking to put in a 4 step ladder. Also, has anyone successfully been able to put a grab handle on swim platform? Thank you!

View the latest post Vacuflush vacuum breaker leak

Getting a leak from the back of the vacu flush toilet. Probably had an issue over the winter, but who mows. When we step on the pedal we get water running down the supply tube. A mirror places the problem at teh vacuum breaker. Anyone ever replace one with the toilet in place? Does it just pull out and then press back in? I ordered the part and supply tube, just wondering what I am getting into.

Thanks!

View the latest post Attachment(s) water in bilge

Hello Carver fanatics! 2004 360 Sports Sedan, 8.1VP's as engines. In the bilge, in the center section between the 2 engines, I've always seen water there. I have no clue if that is a normality or not. No, I am not on our baby yet, but always questioned this. Any clues? Normal or not.

View the latest post Forward A/C 1994 390CPMY

My forward A/C is original 16K Marine AiRRRR unit. It works pretty good, it may need a small charge but I have decided to leave alone. However, the rubber isolators for the compressor seem to be worn. Has anyone replaced these? Is there enough space to lift compressor up a tad to slide in new isolators? Any tricks I should know before attempting?

View the latest post Single engine trolling on twin vdrive Carver

Hi all!

Fishboy here, and first of all thanks for all the info! I’ve been searching the site to learn about Carver boats and I’m getting an education from your shared experience.

I’ve been boating for 18yrs in a 27ft cruiser style Bayliner that lives on a trailer and we’ve had some excellent adventures (including crossing Lake Superior) but I’m about to upgrade to a Carver 320 Voyager. I just saw the boat yesterday and it’s low hours and great shape, survey scheduled for May 8th. Fingers crossed.

I’ll keep the boat on Lake Michigan at Winthrop Harbor and plan to set it up for fishing but can’t seem to find any intel on trolling with one engine shut down. I’m sure you can help!

1 Is the boat controllable at idle speed on one engine?

2 What speed do you think I’d be doing in that case? I prefer to troll between 2-3mph on the gps.

3 Might this be a problem for the engine not running? I’ve found some conversations where some feel it shouldn’t be done if the vdrive will be turning without the engine running, possible drive overheat? I’ve found this scenario discussed several places on forums like this but it’s usually when someone wants to travel at hull speed on one engine to save fuel, not 2-3mph trolling for fish.

4 In this case I would think I could leave the non running engine in gear to keep the prop from spinning at these low speeds. Any issues with that?

The marina opens for business on May 1 and I can’t wait to shelter in place on my new (old) boat!

Btw, the 320 has Crusader carbureted 350’s with Walter vdrives, 500hrs.

Thanks, Doug

View the latest post Hour meeting blinking

My boat is a 2006 carver 41 CMY with twin gas Volvo’s. Both hour meters sometime ago quit displaying fully. So an 8 might look like a 6 or a 9. Checked with shop and they said they could read actual engine hours plugging into the motors diagnostics, so didn’t worry about it. Now, port side is close to readable, but starboard side does not display enough to read. Port side has the blinking h to the left of the hour meter when engine is running, but starboard full display just blinks whatever is left still working. Basically unreadable. is a fully blinking hour meter a warning of some kind? Oil, temp, and volatile all read good on both engines.

I can’t find a manual on the guages and Hour meter display anywhere.

Thanks!

Bob
