View the latest post Carver 3207 Revised - 2015 projects & bow thruster

About 3 years ago I purchase a 86' Carver 3207. When I purchased it I really liked the layout out with the lower entrance to the bridge and aft cabin. However I felt it needed a better access to the swimplatform and was lacking a radar arch and aft hardtop. I wasn't a big fan of the tube ones.

Anyways I have been busy updating. I will start from the beginning and catch up to my latest updates

I have a large library of pictures below:

View the latest post Mercruiser 3.7LX

I just wanted to let you all know that, in spite of people being afraid of these engines and thinking they are too small for such a big boat, that these actually perform quite well. My boat cruises at 24 MPH while burning only 10GPH. It also takes very little time to plane out versus my friend's 28 Regal with twin 5.0LX's. I recently (well last summer, as it's winter right now) had 10 adults on it to go for an "idling cruise" around Sandusky Bay, when one of the guys said..."punch it and let's see what this bi**h can do! I said that it had 10 adults, 2 four cylinders, and no working trim tabs, that it probably wouldn't do much. He said to go ahead anyway...I did. His response? "Wow! This thing's fast. And, you didn't even have to re-position people!"

View the latest post Attachment(s) Year 14

After having The Dog House for 14 years, I have finally gotten it to where I think a boat should be. She's shiny like a new boat...something that took years to accomplish, I've removed the "dressing room" bulkhead, removed the carpet and installed cherry wood flooring, installed AC, and electric stove and flat panel TV, and recovered the dinette and made new curtains. Yesterday, I removed the caulk around the gunnel molding and replaced it with new. Amazing what a difference THAT makes!

View the latest post Attachment(s) Hello From Ohio

Hello all my name is Dan and i am the 3rd proud caretaker of a 1990 Carver 3227 Convertible, La Boat Blue, thanks to Kenny (Ramsport47) for linking me to this site, if you need Carver questions answered Kenny is da man.My wife and I dock at Cedar Point Marina in Sandusky, Ohio and for the most part live aboard the Blue as much as possible in the summer months with numerous trips to the Lake Erie Islands and Canada at times, when weather is not very cooperative we can fall back on the fact that we we dock at a marina that includes the best amusement park in the world, Cedar Point. I look forward to watching and helping this site grow and it is great to have another site to share our love of Carver Yachts with like minded and obviously highly intelligent folks.

View the latest post Attachment(s) Carver Montego 2757

Hi all. I just found this site through the "Carver Yachts Official" site on facebook. I work at a dealer that once sold Carver Yachts prior to Carver's most recent bankruptcy, for 47 years. I've worked there for 32 years and can try to help as many of you as I can with tech questions or anything else. Let me know. I am on my second Carver, a 1988 2757 Montego...the first being a 2557 Montego. We currently have the 27 for sale (after owning her for 14 years) with hopes of finding a nice 3257 Montego to replace her with! Here is a pic of The Dog House

View the latest post Hynautic Relief Valves?

Why does a Hynautic reservoir have a relief valve on the bottom, if the helm station also has a built in relief valve?

View the latest post NMEA "hub"

On my 42 Carver, I had all the instruments and radio talking to each other. I remember I had to buy a NMEA connection box. I believe it boosted the signals, maybe even made sure they came and went in order.

I'm wiring up my project Carver now, and using NMEA communication.

Does anybody know what I'm writing about here, and where to get one?

I have a NMEA heading sensor for ARPA on the radar, I have GPS, Speed and temp from the chartplotter that I'd like to use to fill in the blanks on the radar, and send a signal to the DSC radio, and signal to a Floscan. Possibly more in the future.

View the latest post To make my 87 Mariner look less ugly

We removed all black trim and striping, and changed the striping to blue.

The big black painted surfaces on the side will be covered with glossy DiNoc, which is a 3M product that looks as if it is Carbon Fiber. Haven't done it yet since we are still doing other things, but the DiNoc is ordered, and pix will be posted once complete.

View the latest post Attachment(s) 1987 36 Mariner - back to life!

This year we bought a 1987 Carver 36 Mariner that sat out in the open for 10 years. I've posted some pix in my photobucket link below, and will post more as we go along. I listed a bunch of things we've done so far in the intro forum at the top.

Been working on it since about July.

Right now we have a total investment of 17k, which includes every dime we spent on her from purchase to registration, heated winter storage, and all the stuff we purchased. Not counted is the 500 hours so far between my wife and me. We only have about 4k to go in spending, and we'll be boating soon!
