View the latest post 1997 Carver 430 Bed sizes (Manual)

Silly question, but our boat hasn't arrived at our lake yet and we don't exactly know the size of the beds. We want to go ahead and order sheets, etc.

The master stateroom is a queen, according to the 1997 brochure. What about the forward stateroom? The foldout couch? The convertible dining area?

We have five kids, so will fill every sleeping spot.

On a related note, does anyone have a suggestion for finding the owner's manual?

For both of these, I searched the forum and through Google and came up blank. The Carver site has manuals, but oddly not the 440.

Thanks!!! Thrilled to be here.

View the latest post New owner in Texas

We're the new owners of a gorgeous 1997 Carver 430. It is perfect for our family and we can't wait to get out on the water. We're at the survey stage, so it could all go south, but looks great.

This is the largest boat we've ever owned, so we have a LOT to learn and I'm sure I can learn a lot here. We're on Lake Lewisville, just north of Dallas and new to the lake too.

View the latest post Mobil One Synthetic

Guys.
Quick question, I have no idea what type oil has been used in my engines over the years. I have about 80 hours on the oil and neither engine has used a drop since I got the boat about 2 1/2 years ago. Current hours are 472 and 477.
I would like to change the oil before this spring and ya know the 7.4 MPI Mercs better than anyone.

Is it safe to use Mobil One Synthetic and call me old school, maybe even overkill, but I also like to add a small bottle of Slick 50 Synthetic which I have used since 1989.
Is there another oil I should be using instead?

I would imagine the transmission fluid is changed at the same time?
What guidelines do ya normally go by?

Thanks in advance and I sent up some more :beergood: money. I hope ya are having an awesome weekend.

View the latest post Generator fuel selector

Hello all. Would love some feedback on the following situation. My 1991 Carver 33’s Koehler genny will run all day long when the fuel selector switch is set to starboard fuel tank. If I select port fuel tank it will run for 20 minutes almost exactly. Both fuel tanks have about a half tank of new good fuel in them. Engines perfect. Am I missing something? Is there something I am doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Ray

View the latest post How do they ride?

Hello we are new and looking to purchase a new to us Carver. We will mostly cruise the Chesapeake for awhile. This will be our first big boat.

Can anyone tell us if the 444 and or the 466 will cruise comfortably in the 8-10 knot range when 15-18 knots is not needed given their hull design and larger engines 370 hip. Thank you!

View the latest post Attachment(s) Rear Sliding Cabin Door

Hello all,
I have a 1995 Carver 355 and the rear sliding acrylic door is getting hard to open or close.
I have tried spraying a dry lube on the top and bottom tracks. That seemed to help for a while bit now it is getting so my wife sometimes can't open it to leave the boat. :help: That is not a good situation.
Does someone have any info on removing and repairing this thing so it will be easier to operate?
Thanks for any help and advice you may give.

View the latest post Attachment(s) Fuel Pump

The Fuel pump went out on my starboard 1993 Crusader XL. I ordered this part from Amazon

I installed the pump and the engine starts and runs great, but I couldn't get the fuel line connectors to stop leaking. I took it apart and put it back together 5 times with different amounts of torque on the nuts and Loctite on the threads, but it would always leak fuel between the hole in the nut where the fuel line passes through.
The last time I took it apart, i broke one of the fuel lines CRU98148 #22 in the diagram

My plan was to just replace everything from the fuel filter housing forward including an OEM fuel pump, but I can't find the parts.

Can these fuel lines be replaced with flexible ones?
Does anyone know a good source for these parts?
Any advice on how to make those connectors not leak?

Thanks,

View the latest post Hello!

New member here, not an owner, but rather a buyer. I'm looking to purchase a 4207 this spring. Anyone from Michigan will know what I mean when I say we lost our family cottage "up north" and I have decided on weekend boat living with my family and I. I think the layout of the 4207 hooked me, but the engine room size lured me in. As a 25 year mechanic who has fallen out of love with cars and racing, I'd rather work at having a cool "yacht". Act as if right? :drunk:

I've already learned a lot here in 10 minutes. I know how I'm spending my Thursday night. Thank you to all who make this page possible. :captain2:

View the latest post Need Recommendations for Bimini on 23 Montego

Good afternoon everyone!
I bought a 23 Montego a couple months ago. The original Bimini was removed, and a junky universal top from Atwoods was added. I would like to go back to the original top style but I cannot seem to find a frame for it anywhere online. I can always fabricate one myself, but wanted to ask here to get ideas before I go to that trouble. Thanks!
