Unknown camera system

Postby bandersen55 » June 8th, 2021, 1:02 pm

I have a 2002 Carver 506 Motor yacht. It has a camera system and the screen isn't functioning. I believe it's probably aftermarket, but I'm not sure. I'd like to just replace the monitor portion of the system without replacing the cameras. The problem is that I can't find the name of the manufacturer anywhere on the system. I've tried to search the internet with the part number of the back, but no luck. I've attached pictures of it. Has anyone seen anything like this? Do you know who the manufacturer might be?

Thanks,

Brian

Is the wire coming in the back of the monitor coming from the camera? Have you taken the cover off to see if it possibly just plugs in with a rca connector or whatever? May be able to determine a compatible monitor type.

I should have taken the cover off but I didn't (and I won't be back to the boat for 2 weeks). The boat has 4 cameras so I'm assuming it's not just an RCA plug. I would guess it's twisted pair.

I'd bet it's not IP and all four are just NTSC cameras. You could probably use any NTSC quad security monitor, but you'd want to get one with enough brightness in the screen to be used outdoors. You might want to follow that cable back into the helm or wherever it goes... it probably breaks out to four individual circuits to the cameras and that's where the RCA connectors are likely at. If you do get a 'generic' monitor, you also might want to fashion a light shield like that one has to help with the viewability.
