Challenges Wiring Through My 355 AC Radar Arch

Postby gmac98004 » June 16th, 2020, 11:38 am

Hello Team!

I'm in the process of wiring a new XM antenna through the radar arch and down to the crazy angled stereo cabinet pedestal in the STBD cabin.

After taking off the access panel on the radar arch, I've spent an embarrassing number of hours trying to find a wiring path to that pedestal. Many panels have been removed with no luck!

So two questions for the group:

1. Any great suggestions on a wiring snake that can turn that sharp corner on the radar arch successfully?

2. Any suggestions at all on the pathway for wiring to that stereo cabinet from the STBD radar arch panel?

Thanks everyone for the help!

Take Care, Greg

I can't help with your dilemma, but when you do pull pull an extra cable for future pulls.
Thanks

Pull out the cubby shelves on the port side of the bridge. Pulling wire from there to the top of the arch is pretty easy. In there you will see a major bundle of wires that go down to the cabin and engine compartment. If no one else messed with it, everything will be wire tied together and not make it an easy fish. Use a round plastic or fiberglass fish tape paired with a whole lot of patience.

If there's a loose wire along with a bundle, you can use that to pull through a temporary pull wire. Disconnect it from whatever it's used for and use it to pull the temporary pull wire. Then pull that back out when it's attached to the loose wire along with your new wire (and maybe even a new pull rope for future use).

Thanks everyone! I'll throw some additional effort at this and see what I can come up with.
