AC products on Carver 52 Coupe

Postby looperjohn38 » February 16th, 2021, 6:46 pm

Do the AC products work directly off the generator. OR, do they get their power from the inverter, converting DC from the battery banks, to AC, then on to the AC appliances/products?

The load needed to run the AC systems is high. Thus needing the generator to run. Using an inverter, which would have to be huge, Would sap the reserve from your batteries very quickly. Shore power or genney.

Thank you pepmyster. Carver has done a nice job on this model. The size, manageability and creature comforts are very good - without taking away any of the fun of cruising and ownership.

Ya AC loads can run off shore power or an inverter but as pepmyster said, heavy loads will drain your battery bank quickly. How long battery power lasts will depend on the load and the size of the battery bank. If you spend a lot of time on the hook, you'll want a depleted bank to be charged quickly when you run the generator to get the charger to charge them. How quickly they top up will depend on the size of the bank and charger output.

The two biggest things that I like about the carver line is -
1) MADE IN THE USA.
2) THE IN HOUISE ABILITY TO BUILD TO THE OWNERS NEEDS.
