Autopilot - DIY?

Wondering if you were able to complete this project? I do know in my 444 (which is a 396 with a cockpit added at the back) you can open a panel behind the salon TV (about 18x18) and see in that panel all of the way to the back of the aft stateroom as well as down to the area where exhaust and water are run. Also there's a panel under the mattress (about pillow position) that gives full access to the exhaust routing on the port side of the boat and you can see lots of stuff running through there. I am planning to add autopilot to my boat this summer as well (444) and going through the same thinking..

I added a Ray auto pilot on mine and it was easy. Just do not overcomplicate or over think! Works great too!
