Great navigation tool

Postby hubba46 » September 30th, 2021, 1:45 pm

I just purchased a 15in portable monitor to attach to my smart phone. I use a navigation app on my phone but the screen is too small to see very well while under way. I hooked up a splitter to my usb port so I don't run out of battery and made a holder in front of the wheel. So for $150 on Amazon I found a very thin, light screen that everyone can see and enjoy while traveling. Very easy to plug and play and NO software needed. Awesome addition to the boat and my wife loves it too.

Yes. This is the one I choose because it is the one my friend bought. $149....but there are cheaper ones on Amazon. It comes with the USB-C cable to attach it to your smart phone. That's it! The app I use is Boating and I think it was $15 or $25 a year. It works everywhere, give depth, speed plots charts, changes direction of view and lots more than I have used. My son uses it when he goes to Alaska every year and recommended it to me. I'm still getting used to all the features.

I forgot to mention that your smart phone must have a HDMI or USB-C output to transmit audio and video to the monitor. Mot smart phones after 2020 have that capability. Here's a YouTube video showing the connecting process.
