Replace Raymarine VHF

Postby spottio » June 17th, 2014, 2:02 pm

I have a 2005 carver 41 CPY and the RAY 54 VHF radio needs to be replaced. Anyone have any ideas on how to do this? I cannot find an access point to get behind the radio to remove/install.

Isn't there an access panel underneath the bottom if the dash to get to all the electronics/steering and throttle controls? I'm sure on my neighbors 41 there is one...

Spottio, I do not know your model of yacht but I have a 2001 406. I am in my access area all the time performing maintenance and on my yacht In front of the Capt. helm is a seating area. The back rest pad lifts straight up to unlock and once out of the way I have a wood panel that is screwed in to the helm. Simple on mine, hope yours might be the same.

Misswhit, his helm is all the way forward, your's is mid-bridge with seating in front. The new carver style was to push all the helms to the bridge of the bow to have all the seating behind the helm.
