Which Pump For The AC Unit

Postby RGrew176 » August 21st, 2016, 3:03 am

My 3007 has an after market reverse cycle AC/heat system installed. The unit is a 16000 BTU unit. Last week while on my vacation the water pump for the AC/heat unit died. What little information I have found online seems to lean towards a 500 GPH pump.

There are at least 2 choices for me. I can purchase and install a 250 GPH pump or a 500 GPH pump. I do not know what size is in there now as I have not had the chance to pull the old pump out. I kind of prefer to get the new one and then pull the old one and install the new unit. There is not a lot of room down there to work so I really only want to get in there once.

Should I purchase the 500 GPH pump or the 250 GPH pump for my AC unit. Looking at my inlet/outlet size that also seems to recommend the larger pump. Price wise there is about a $60 difference between pumps.

I think I may have just found my answer. I went on the West Marine website and the recommended pump for a 16000 BTU unit is the 500 GPH pump so I am going to order that one.

I concur with the 500 GPH. PML500? Watch out for copies, they are not built the same. Marke sure it's a Dometic or March pump.

I plan to purchase a March Pump. Thanks for the advice.
