Carver 405 Aft Cabin A/C

Postby lshuback » July 9th, 2020, 5:21 pm

Hello , quick question as I am wondering if anyone has experienced this problem
Over the weekend we under ship power and had both A/C units on. Pulled into a marina , tied up and plugged in. We neglected to turn off units when we switched to shore power. This didn't effect the unit thermostat that is located in the galley, it turned back on without a hitch. It did however turn the AFT unit off and there is now a code on the thermostat that flashes when you turn it on. The "code" is -AAA then flashes to --17. I tried turning off all breakers along with the main , thinking it needed to reset itself. It didn't help ... code is still flashing and unit won't turn on. Any thoughts or suggestions ? I would greatly appreciate it.

Welcome to the forum.....could you say what brand units you have....it may help.
The above is strictly my opinion always based on years of doing...remember to support local business , it pays back.

These units were oem on my 405 . I still have fwd unit other was replaced a few years ago.. You probably have the original marineairrrr compact vector units. AAA is a failed temp sensor on the faceplate. Heres a link to the manual.. look on page 26 for the AAA code.. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source= ... d0OSGVZjJX

Can you add a remote temp sensor to those?? Might be a less expensive way than trying to replace the faceplate.

crazy solution ... before i had anything replaced I had a few minutes on my hand so I just kept pressing the buttons on the thermostat. I was able to get it to reset to "factory default" and from there the AC kicked on. I am still shaking my head and honestly do not know why this worked , but exceptionally happy it did. The strange thing is that when I pressed buttons individually , nothing happened ... only when i hit multiple buttons at the same time ( the start and arrow up as an example ) Thank you all for your input , it's appreciated.
