What is this?

Postby tonyiiiafl » August 20th, 2020, 7:25 pm

I was in he engine room replacing my house fresh water pump. This past owner has some inventive ideas. He has irrigation fittings on these lines. However, on the right is the line coming from the fresh water tank in the aft cabin. It is the supply line to the pump. What is this thing? I was thinking pressure regulator, but it is on the wrong side of the pump. Thanks again!

Looks like a filter, is there a screen inside it ?
The above is strictly my opinion always based on years of doing...remember to support local business , it pays back.

I'm thinking the same, filter? Cheap Chinese style?

It is definitely a filter. I had the same model on my boat at one point and now it's sitting in my "boat parts" box. You can take it apart and clean the screen. It's to protect the pump from ingesting debris, which seems to always show up. My boat is 37 years old and I'm still catching tiny little plastic chips all the time.
