Salon AC does not have cold air

Postby tgebler » June 30th, 2025, 9:05 am

My 2000 396 Aft Cabin has three AC units. Two of the three work fine but the salon AC runs and blows air but it is not cold. Any suggestions?

Not much to go on . What manufacturer of unit? Do all 3 run off the same water circulating pump? Or does it have its own? Is it icing up? Have you tried seeing if there's a high pressure cutout that may be tripped? Try starting the unit and let it run then carefully touch the outside of compressor see if its getting hot or just stays room temp. Tried running in heat mode?

Try this and let us know what happens, when you adjust the temp either up or down, can you hear the compressor turning on/off?
g36 has a good suggestion, turn up the temp enough to kick it into heat mode? What happens? Can you hear the compressor kick in? After a minute or two, are you getting heat?

If the unit is original, there is most likely a reset button on the compressor discharge line. If this is tripped, and the unit starts after it is reset, you more than likely have a low water flow issue.

Check the basics; water flow, is the compressor actually running, is there good air flow around the unit/evaporator, are the evaporator fins clean?
