Washer dryer problem

Postby Wayne M » June 8th, 2017, 5:59 pm

I have a Bendix washer/dryer combo unit that does not seem to be getting any power. The circut breaker is on. Are there additional fuses some where?

Well I assume this unit is AC voltage. Check and make sure you didn't trip the GFI on that side of the boat.

That unit should be on it's own AC breaker. There are a few things that will prevent it from powering up besides the obvious such as no power to the outlet. You'll need to remove the unit to check if there is power at the outlet unless the outlet is accessible in an adjacent cabinet. One of the most common failures is a bad door interlock switch. Short of being one of those, you'll need to do some further diagnostics. I don't recall if there is an on-board fuse or breaker.

Thx for the suggestions. I suspect it is the outlet. I have managed to get the unit unplugged and plugged it into a separate plug. The washer part seems to work but it does blow the GFCI on the plug when the dryer kicks in.

Currently I am not in a situation I feel comfortable totally removing the unit so I can not check the dedicated plug. Hopefully, i can do that latter this week.

I am new to this boat, where are the GFCI located for the various circuits. I have some outlets with GFCI and some without it.

I am having a similar problem with no power to the Microwave\Convection oven. I haven't found where it plugs in as of yet.

thoughts on that would also be appreciated.

Check them all, one of them has tripped and taken out the other outlets. The non GFCI outlets are tied to the GFCI outlets so that basically all outlets in your boat are GFCI. One tripped GFCI could make one side or specific area of your boat powerless.

I am not familiar with this unit, but if it trips the gfi in the dry mode you most likely have a bad dryer heating element,

I'd be surprised if it's GFCI outlet but you never know. Have you confirmed if the outlet the unit is normally plugged into is a GFCI? They can nuisance trip under higher loads if they're weak so don't test with another outlet on board. Take your shore power cord, plug it into shore power, put a 15 amp adapter on the other end and plug the machine into it, then try the dry cycle and see it it'll work.
