I believe the Onan is the original gen from 1985. It is a 6.5. Anyone know where the resister is located?

This has to be from crossing the hot and ground. The gen was working fine before i did that. Does anyone know what could of been effected by this?

When you say you "shorted a power and ground"... was that a 12vdc circuit or a A.C. circuit. If it was A.C., was the generator running at the time you shorted it?

yes a bad relay can keep the genset from running and do what your saying. i believe its the K1 or k2 relay assuming a onan mcck its been a while since i had mine. also checked fuses on genset? in the old genset they were just mounted in the box but newer maybe yours dont know, but they went to a circuit board. what model do you have? you didnt say what model onan that i noticed, the control box will have the relays in there. you will likely have 3 they are identical and do different jobs. also there is a safety circuit that shuts down the engine such as over temp, oil pressure pressure switch etc.

I can jump the relay to the fuel and the generator will stay running but still wont make power. What would shut down the fuel?
