Water tank gauge

Postby Helmsman » November 29th, 2017, 9:49 pm

Ok Guys,

I have a Xintex Water Tank Display Round 2in Gauge for 1 Fresh Water Tank that is not working. The other holding tank display works. I haven’t pulled the lid cover off of the electrical panel to see if it is receiving power but thought I would ask here first I forgot any of you have replaced or repaired one. While I would prefer not to buy one, if I need to I will. I assume there is a sending unit in the tank I may need to locate and test somehow. Any thoughts out could share, I would certainly appreciate it.

Thanks

Most likely sending unit is corroded. If 12 volt breaker is on for this unit, it should be illuminated.

Do you know what model it is?
Here is a link with some manuals that might be helpful:

Sorry should have posted that. After looking it up it is the fresh water xintex LLM-1-F-RP Monitor. I will look at the tank tomorrow. If it is a corroded sending unit as was suggested above I will need to wait until next spring to replace when I flush the antifreeze. Just was trying to get some ideas around common problems before I tore into it. Hoping that it was the gauge itself. Looks easier to replace.

is there a way to check the current from the sending unit to make sure it is the culprit? Open to anyone to answer of course.

On the waste monitor, you have to push on it and it lights up and tells you how full it is. I assumed the fresh water gauge should do the same. Since the light won’t come on it may indicate a problem with the gauge.

If it's the pneumatic type sender, there is nothing to corrode if I remember correctly. This might help, there is a troubleshooting section:

Thanks for the link. The condition as it exists is that the lights on the display do not illuminate when you push to illuminate it. I will take the panel cover off and see if it is connected. Perhaps the previous owner disconnected it. If it isn’t the gauge or power to it, the only other thing it could probably be is the sending unit. After I check the gauge I will move to the sending unit.

Thanks!

I cannot locate the sender unit on the tank for my 2002 carver 396 and nothing in the docs tell me anything about it. Any help?

My water tank on 355 is under the aft cabin bed. Sender is of course in the tank. A good chance yours is there also.

I neglected to mention the fix on this post. When I emptied the AF from the tank and put fresh water in, it began to work again. Have not had a problem with it since. Sometimes I think these Carvers are self healing. :-P

Yes that was an expensive option on some models. It's amazing what nano technology can do ;-)
