1996 Carver Mid cabin express

Postby seahawks2884 » September 15th, 2020, 6:29 pm

First off it`s great to be here with all you proud Carver yacht owners. My wife and I have had our boat for 14 years and love our Carver. I have an ignition problem on my starboard engine. I have no power at the ignition switch. My port ignition works fine. I was told there was a 20amp fuse for the ignition switch and that is the issue with no power to it.I have pushed the engine circuit breaker red button. Not it. I have done research and can`t find the fuse or fuse box location on the engine to change the fuse??? Volvo Penta 5.8 fsi. This is all I have found doing research.

Help please before I pull out anymore of my hair! Thanks in advance
John

Welcome to the forum.....

Do you have the little white coloured button above your ignition key on the dash......if so push it in as it is a breaker......you may have done this but that's all I got past the solenoid on the engine and the engine breaker which you have found already.
The above is strictly my opinion always based on years of doing...remember to support local business , it pays back.

Thanks for your reply Bud. Yes I have tried the white circuit breaker button. If I could just find the exploded view of where the fuse box is on the engine or an inline fuse on the electrical harness designated for the ignition. The 64,000 dollar question? Thanks

Hi. Yes the shifter is in neutral. I checked it a few times. Maybe it`s a faulty neutral switch diode relay causing no power to ignition switch? :banghead:

Sometimes these safety switches etc just make the circuit by closing to ground and allowing the circuit to be powered up......so consider that in your troubleshooting.......muddy heh... :-D ....good luck man...

Any access panels at the helm area. May be a breaker or fuse in there.
