House bank addition to 310 Santego

Postby Capn Crunch » October 25th, 2020, 11:27 am

Our Santego has 2 batteries only for engines and house combined, with a separate battery mounted on the bridge for i presume the windlass (not in use when we took possession of her)

Given space limitations where have others added a house bank on this model of Carver?

Thanks for your suggestions.

Do you have a genset with its own starting battery?
I have a 356 with only 2 starting/house batteries and a genset with it's own.
Anyway, my only suggestion, if you don't have the room for more, just get the biggest house battery that will fit. I have 2 deep cell, group 31's and a dedicated genset starting battery.

Hi Buster - no genset. On what we now refer to as the "Little Carver" we had a genset on the outermost port side and a battery, starboard had house bank of 2 batteries. New Carver has fuel tanks where those items were. The 2 engine batteries are at the lowest point of the bilge between the stringers - if I moved the bilge pump farther toward the transom I might be able to squeeze one more battery but iffy at best.

I'll be down to the boat tomorrow sometime, will try and get some pics.

Can you build a shelf to add additional batteries in the area?
