Sadly, I did not get to this task today. My wife came up to the boat while I was working on some projects and well, we went for a 2-hour cruise and burned up some gas. I will try again tomorrow.

Sorry, can't relate to your sadly not being able to work on the boat because you took a cruise in December! LOL, good for you, I'm just a bit jealous.
My boat is sitting the marina parking lot.

Ok, I had time today to look into this and here is what I found.

bud37, you are indeed correct, no matter what the battery switch is on, power is applied from any battery connected to the switch (Bank 1/2) The winch is powered no matter where the switch is and if either (Bank 1/2) is disconnected. Sadly, the labeling is deteriorated to the point where the labels are not readable. Thye must have a common connection in the switch for available power that cannot be seen visually.

The Charles Charger is very strong for the 1999 age at 13.5 Volts.

It appears to me, a larger (than what is installed today) battery Interstate SRM-31 Group Size 31M 675 Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) 98 Amp Hours 13 " (L) X 6 3/4" (W) X 9 5/8" (H) is the way forward. What works today is fine, but I worry about the 12/120 Norcold fridge for running all day which is why this started.

Thank you ALL for the input as it helped me to see more than my own view with limited cruiser knowledge. You all are terrific!

I had time today and am now writing this a second time as my submission crashed out. argh@#$

Bud37 - You are correct Position 1 and 2 power all the breakers no matter which battery is connected or not. The Windlass same thing it is powered no matter which battery is selected.

The Charles charger is outputting 13.5V and appears to be doing well as the batteries (Bank 1 & 2) Continental 27 TM -165 are from early 2019.

It appears to be since these batteries are functioning as needed just more horsepower is needed to achieve my goal of running the Norcold 12/120 Fridge for an extended period of time. I have decided to replace each of the Continental TM-27 batteries with the Interstate SRM-31 Group Size 31M 675 Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) 98 Amp Hours.

Thanks for all the input as it is greatly appreciated. Having another point of view with my new eyes as a Cruiser owner has been valuable.

Well, here’s another follow up. The the Aft Deck light pictured in a post above in this thread is not the “Hot Wire” tied to Battery #1 as I thought (shown in the diagram). It’s tied to the TracVision satellite dish power switch. It is fused by an in-line glass fuse at the battery. It controls this, the satellite dish power switch:

I don’t know why they connected the satellite dish power directly to the battery, but that’s the way it is connected. I’ll add that to list of things to correct. It’s not critical, but should be connected elsewhere.

Not sure on how that sat dishes operate, but if they lose power do they have to go through any kind of "learning" or setup to get them operational again? If so, that'd be the reason to bypass the battery switches, just like the memory on a radio (or, at least, an older radio).

You may be right km but in every case where I've disconnected batteries for the winter, I've never had to reset a sat dish come Spring. The same goes for replacing bad batteries. I would think it'd be easy these days to overcome that issue by incorporating EEPROMs or flash memory. That would allow programming and the data/parameters to be retained even after powering down if I understand my non-volatile memory storage components correctly.

I'm just really speculating on why they might have wired it direct. I have no knowledge of how the older systems worked. I would hope the newer systems out there would use some type of NV memory so that it wouldn't be an issue.

I wonder what's going to happen to a lot of the satellite-based TV systems when things like Starlink get more widespread deployment.

I use intellion on my 405 for dishnetwork and yes if the power is disconnected or control system turned off it will have to require the satellite positions before the receiver can get its signal. It's not a reset persay just its normal start up but as far as the setup settings ( at least mine) saves that in memory so there no reprogramming needed.
