41 CMY Plasdeck

Postby Fiat Lux » January 17th, 2021, 9:44 am

I am looking for recommendations on installing Plasdeck or a similar product on my 2005 41’ CMY. I was considering Seadek until I read the reviews of the edges melting from sunlight reflecting off gel coat.

Plasdeck tough as nails, nicks can be sanded out. Use pressure washer to clean. Now 5 years old looks like new. Color goes all the way thru. Have their product on two boats and inflatable. Make sure surfaces are flat to prevent transfer. Install on a very warm hot day.

I have had no issues with Seadek. Regarding hard material, my friend had Plastiteak on his boat, really regretted it as they could no longer use the swim platform on sunny days since the material got scorching hot. Not sure how Plasdek fairs in the Sun. Seadek does not have this problem. See pictures in my signature, same boat as yours by the way. ;-)
Cheers, Hans

Welcome to the forum......question for you guys.......Is all the material used the same even though there are different names/suppliers ?
The above is strictly my opinion always based on years of doing...remember to support local business , it pays back.

Thank you all for the advice. Seadek is a foam base product and Plasdek is made of PVC plastic. Midnight Sun, your pictures are great and your boat looks beautiful. Gave me a lot of ideas. Did you have the rear canopy and enclosure put on. I would like to do the same.

The enclosure was added by the original owner, must say it is a great addition. I made lots of improvements to the boat, no regrets anywhere. Glad you enjoyed the photos. Not much left to do on her except I still have a new replacement AC unit that has not been installed in the forward cabin yet. The old one is still functional albeit noisy and not all that cold.

Take note of what I said regarding plastic based teak, hot as hell in the sun. ;-)

I installed Pastideck on my Searay 44 and loved it. I would do it again in a heart beat
