Capacities / specs

diesel 103 gallons
fresh water 61 gallons
black water 44 gallons

LOA 30 feet
Hull length 25' 10"
waterline 21
Aft freeboard 39"
forward freeboard 39"
Beam 8'
Trans beam 7'6"
Draft 3'
air draft minimum 8' 9"

normal cruise speed 6.1 MPH @ 1800 RPM. 10 MPH estimate @ Max 2600 RPM
normal cruise mileage 8.4 MPG

The MPG is actual 1000 mile trip data. this trip included 70 lockings, engine never shut down during locking.
My estimate is 9 MPG if not locking, or at least close.

Fuel burn at normal cruise .73GPH
range at normal cruise 840 Miles plus 3 gallon reserve, 900 miles if not locking
Generator fuel burn @ half load .2 GPH Air Cond, and batt charger on
generator max run time at 1/2 load 500 HRS.

Very nice, You have built a better boat than you can buy. How was the engine mated with the Alpha(2)? Were your stern stringers solid? Do you know the lengths of the upper control cables? Ed 86 2667

Stringers were solid, transom wood was being held in place by the thin glass interior skin, took less then 5 min to remove every bit of wood, sorry do not know length of cables, trust me easy replacement, if cables are all old , you will ever regret changing then all at once! Will see if I have pics of the adapter I designed to mate engine to drive!

If you look at page four of these post you will see the back of the engine with adapter and connection for out-drive, the black piece with female splined receiver embedded in rubber is a standard Mercruiser part, it is mounted to the bare aluminum adapter, the adapter looks like a large bowl, with a small ring of holed at bottom of bowl that line up with crankshaft bolt holes, longer bolts and it was mounted, then mercruiser part bolted to large end of bow with a short captive recess to center merc part in bowl, shaft from out-drive fits into merc part. you can see the motor mounts I made going out to stringers landing on vibration mounts, the out-drive male splined shaft and four mounts on stringers are the only physical connection between diesel and boat to minimize noise and vibration transfer to boat. And it works!

So the shaft splines are held in place by the motor position and the shaft goes directly (no bearing) to the U joint on the outdrive. When do you put your 2667 in the water?

NO Ed, the out-drive shaft foreword of the universal joints is held in position by the gimbal housing bearing mounted in transom.By using a alignment tool that mimics a shaft from out-drive I adjust the motor mounts to allow tool being held by bearing to line up with female splined receiver on engine. when shaft (tool) slides through bearing and into engine without binding , you are aligned! To be sure with my setu, it takes some time to get in right especially working alone! The Merc receiver part I am using has a large pressed in rubber core with the metal spline piece pressed into the center of the rubber, this design gives a little forgiveness in the alignment but not much, this alignment must be checked when ever the out-drive is removed, tool is about 3 feet long about 1.75 inch diameter and solid steal, no splines but end is same diameter as splined shaft. In all normal Mercruiser installed the back of engine mounts to inner plate of gimball assembly on transom, with bolts and rubber washers, then you just adjust front mount or mounts of engine for shaft alignment, I did not want the noise/vibration from engine to have this path to the boat that this installation provides. :usa:

I launch my boat the day I leave on my trip, this year I hope to do the Trent Severn waterway in Canada, Round trip and then some other canals in Canada if time and conditions are right. Its Canada's 150th birthday and to celebrate , locking is free this year!!!
